forever on earth?

9 " For evildoers will be cut off, Butt those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land. "

11 " But the humble will inherit the land, And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity. "

29 " The righteous will inherit the land, And dwell in it forever. "

The Jehovah's Witnesses think these verses mean that not all good people go to heaven. Some will live for all eternity on earth ( Reasoning from Scriptures, 1989, 163 )

Just as I said in past Yahoo! answers, Russellittes are ignorant regarding three following major issues concerning Biblical intepretation.

1) They do not understand the progressive nature of Biblical revelation and redemption. This is why they have such a problem with not being able to see the NT promises of a heavenly state of eternal life before God's throne and an eternal paradise on a new earth mentioned in the OT prophets and by Jesus before His resurrection for those who are saved as the same thing being referred to. The difference only being whether it was mentioned by the Biblical writer pre-resurrection or post-resurrection. It is why the inherited land mentioned in the OT and an inherited earth mentioned by Jesus in His ministry to the Jews as restored by God as a paradise must be only for their second class elected Russellites. Since in the Biblical apocalyptic literature, especially in the New Testament, such as Jesus' discussion about the last days in Matthew 24-25, the 2 Peter 2 and 3, and most of the book of Revelation, uses apocalyptic language that describes a heavenly eternal state before the throne of God, they must resolve this dilemma by claiming their are two places that their saved go. This is their eschatological rationale for the spurious doctrines of the first class elected144,000 of their own that go to the heavenly realms to be in the presence of God, and the rest to a restored earth they call paradise. This is definitely reading into the text that's just not there.

2) They believe that a word or phrase of a verse in the Law, the prophets, or the historical books of the OT (such as the Hebrew word "olam" which can mean, according to the Chaldean Hebrew lexicon, either "duration, lasting, forever, or eternal") must mean the same thing throughout the OT, which they take to mean literally for eternity. This is ridiculous, since the word "olam" is used to describe the Jews' inheritance of the land (which ceased for a time in 586BC, and then again in AD70) as the Psalmist mention, and even the mountains around Jerusalem which the prophet Habbakuk states in chapter 3 verse 6. It is this very verse that Russellites use to state why they believe eternal destruction is not eternal, referring to the temporal nature of mountains. Obviously, you can't have it both ways, stating that the Hebrew word "olam" doesn't mean eternal here when debating about the doctrine of Hell, but then switch to saying it must mean eternal in this verse when discussing whether the earth will last forever or not. The Hebrew word "olam" is absolutely relative to the context that it is found. This is the same for it's NT Greek counterpart, and is interchangable with the word "aion". Yes, both are understood to be defined by how the word is being used, not in such an unrealistically wooden and rigid manner as always meaning "eternal".

3) This leads me to their third fallacy. The context determines the meaning of the word and phrases, not the word or phrases themselves determining how to understand the whole passage! One must work from understanding the whole (the book, the chapter) to then its parts (the verse, the words). Rather they always seem to do it piecemeal, with their textproofing and reading into the text. Surely, the indicator for interpreting a word or phrase involves whether the context tells one whether it is apocalyptic in nature or not. Russellites do not understand metaphor as being the basic rule for this type of literature. The New Covenant describes the last things in this descriptive mode much of the time, whereas less so in the OT. Yet, even when the OT prophets (i.e. Isaiah 40:21; Jeremiah 31:33-34, Ezekiel 36:26, Joel 2:28) say that this new covenant will be superior or better, with more efficacious, expansive and eternal promises rendered than those of the OT, the Russellites appear to have a deaf ear to this clear teaching. It is why the OT Psalmist mentions inheriting the land, as a promise to the Jews about their kingdom, yet the new covenant writers talk about a kingdom will not fade away, after the earth as it is today will be destroyed by fire (2 Peter 3:7-10), and replaced by a new heavens and a new earth, that is incorruptible and eternal.

The Earth will last FOREVER.

Ps. 37:29: “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they WILL RESIDE FOREVER upon it.”
Ec 1:4- A generation is going, and a generation is coming; but the earth is standing even to time indefinite
Psalms 104:5 - He has founded the earth upon its established places;
It will not be made to totter to time indefinite, or FOREVER.

Rev 11:18 - 18 But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time for the dead to be judged, and to give [their] reward to your slaves the prophets and to the holy ones and to those fearing your name, the small and the great, and TO BRING TO RUIN THOSE RUINING THE EARTH.”

Mat 5:5 - 5 “Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they WILL INHERIT THE EARTH.

Think of this, If those verses only applied to Jews and those prophesies didn’t actually happen, then it conflicts with the trustworthiness of God’s word. The Bible states in

Joshua 23:14

14 “Now, look! I am going today in the way of all the earth, and YOU well know with all YOUR hearts and with all YOUR souls that not one word out of all the good words that Jehovah YOUR God has spoken to YOU has failed. They have all come true for YOU. Not one word of them has failed.

Rev 21:5 -
5 And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I AM MAKING ALL THINGS NEW.” Also, he says: “Write, because these words are faithful and true.”

Does the earth and heaven need to be destroyed in order for it to be NEW? The usage of the word NEW in the Bible will help us.

2 Cor 5:17 -
Consequently if anyone is in union with Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away, look! new things have come into existence.

In 2 Cor 5, the old person who is dead spiritually , dies but a NEW creation comes into existence.

Does the moon become obliterated when you say NEW Moon? Psalms 81:3.

Jehovah God will make all things new, He will destroy all the wicked ones and those ruining the earth. But will make the earth and heaven new, not only because it will become home for his faithful people but because the earth will become a paradise under God’s kingdom.

I am not a Jehovah's witness (as concerning the org), because they don't believe that Jesus is LORD, for one thing, but 2nd Pet 3:13, does say, "...we, according to his PROMISE, look for NEW heavens and a NEW earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness", and Jesus said in Matt 5:5, "Blessed are the meek::::for they SHALL inherit the earth". He didn't say, they do inherit, but shall inherit the earth. Read Isa 14:1-7, verse 7 says, "The WHOLE EARTH is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing". Read these verses, and then answer; is this happening now? Remember that a Jew isn't one outwardly, but inwardly; Romans 2:28-29. Since Jesus Christ, all who are circumcised in heart are Israel. The promise is to God's children, and Abraham is our father, if we are circumcised in heart. Christ's seed is a spiritual seed.

God promised Abraham Jerusalem, and he SHALL possess it. These are mighty deep spiritual waters in which to wade, but I know that Eden was here, and God placed a guard at it's entrance, so man cannot return into it. Does being caught UP into heaven mean what we think? Up can simply mean a higher spiritual domain.

2nd Corinthians 12:1-5, Paul had an after life experience, which he shared with us, and he repeats, "whether IN THE BODY, I cannot tell; or whether OUT OF THE BODY, I cannot tell: God knoweth", but he says first, that he was caught up into the THIRD HEAVEN and then repeats INTO PARADISE. I don't believe he left the earth. I have known of persons seeing loved ones while on their death bed; are they seeing into another deminsion? This is a subject worthy of much prayerful study.

God bless

Love ~ love ~ love ~ All we need is love love love! The movie Michael, John Travolta sang that song from the Beatles. Here is a song of protection in the Bible Psalm 91 4 He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings, you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and bunkler. 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways. God uses His good angels to do good, and to protect us. Rev 20:15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. God don't use evil spirits or demons to do His work, but there is spiritual war fare all around us, I have seen some of it with my eyes, God uses good spirits and good angels to protect us. Christians will live forever on earth. Jesus said, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth" (Matthew 5:5).

In Revelation chapter 21 we find that the city of God comes down out of heaven to earth, and there God will dwell with His people. People who die and go to heaven are there only temporarily. After Jesus comes again and reigns on the earth for a thousand years, He will remake heaven and earth, and we'll all live on earth. It's all in Revelation 21.

Remember when we were little girls growing up? We always read stories "Once upon a time" (In the beginning...), "They lived happily ever after" (On and on in love). That always sounded so good to us. I know I'm not the only one that had many daydreams about it. So, they say "The righteous will inherit the earth, and dwell in it." That's like an adult dream and I still can "daydream" about it!

Unless Jesus lies he said the same in Matthew 5:5 "Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth"

Remember that he will rule the earth (Revel 5:10) "and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.”

What he will rule an empty rock in the solar system?

Genesis 18:25 "That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?"

"Judge of the earth" or the people that live in the earth' tHe new earth means new human society but the planet is not guilty of the evil things but evil humans and the verse you quoted show what will be the future of them.

As what the Old Testament Show, the promise to inherit the earth is given to Israel. Jesus Christ confirmed this during His earthly ministry in the New Testament. Never heaven is mention here throughout. Only the Apostle Paul assert that this, in our present parenthetical age of grace. The Church that started in Antioch 2000 years ago (Acts 11:26) which is known as the "Body of Christ" is destined to heaven from where our Savior Jesus Christ came from (Philippians 3:20). JW are allegorizing the Scriptures to their own destruction. If God did not mean what He said, why did He say it? He is not the author of confusion. That's why JW are called false cults because giving other meaning what the Bible naturally/literally say endorses apostacy.

Old Testament... Not a good place to go for the Grace of NT salvation.

Any verse can be misused and taken out of context. Many of the JW's proof texts are taken out of context and twisted to say what they want them to.

I find it hard to believe that Jesus (God) would have overlooked the idea of man somehow being righteous outside of salvation by the blood on the cross.
