I just received a lot of money and wanted to put it into a bank account because I want to save it for Christmas gifts. I am 14 and I want to know if I can get a bank account of my own?
Also can I get a card like ATM or something where I can just use that card to withdrawal the money from my account or do I have to go to the bank every time to take out money since I am young?

Most banks will let you open an account in your name but one of your parents will need to be on the account as well most likely. A lot of banks will also let you get an ATM card.

Congratulations on wanting to start a savings account, Learning how to save money and spend your money wisely now will help you as you get older.

Talk to your parents about where they have their bank account or try a credit union. You will find many banks and credit unions have special savings accounts for young savers like you.

I had my own bank account since I was 6 =)
Most likely you`ll need your parents with you because you`re not 18 yet, talk to them about taking you to set one up & yes you can have a card. Good luck!

Talk with your parents about your wishes. I had an account shortly after birth. Usually you can do anything an adult can do as long as you have your parent's permission. Sometimes you don't even need that. They will have legal rights to supervise and will also have full access to your money until you are of age. Most parents do not take advantage of this. Put another way, I believe that you can trust your parents.

depends on where you live. most places will not let you enter into a contract(bank account is a contract) without parental consent. your parents can consent to you opening an account in your own name with full banking privileges including debit cards

Yeah, you can have your own account, but your going to have to go with your parents to open it. Tell your parents about this and see what they say.
