Okay, so for high school (for my honors project to receive an honors diploma) I need to do some sort of fundraiser that will, obviously, help out our community or even people from other countries or states. I do have an idea of what I want to do, I sort of made it up. I was thinking of like a walk (like those breast cancer ones) maybe for our troops or for Darfur. But I really have all year to think about this.
What do you guys think is a good idea for a fundraising event that's new and unique.

One thing that's easy and fun to do is setting up a fundraising page online, so it's simple to give -- and you can track your progress toward your fundraising goal. Here are some cool websites to get you started:
www.change.org
www.firstgiving.com
www.chipin.com
Also, on our website www.sixdegrees.org, there are often matching grants for fundraising, so you could get extra dollars for your cause.

I think that it's good for a student to see the results of his/her project in a situation like this. With that in mind, how about raising funds and/or soliciting donations for a food bank? It will help people right around you - maybe even people you go to school with. While the other goals you mention are certain worthwhile, there are also things here at home that need attention. You may not be able to cure breast cancer, or prevent genocide, or stop a war, but you can feed someone.
And who knows - with an honors diploma, and the opportunities it will help open for you, maybe some day you CAN cure breast cancer, or prevent genocide, or stop a war!!!
Good luck!

contact gogreen, if you need something big then the idea has got to be orginal. Environmentalists are going crazy these days, contact al gores website or greenpeace, something in that catagory. The walking and riding a bike over the country will work but it is being done as we speak, so maybe in the state where you live come up with something about the drinking water or energy, think in those lines, Good Luck and God Bless.

A walk is a good idea. When i was in high school we did a walk to raise money for the Special Olympics. We used our track n people pledged donations to people for how many laps they did either individually or as a team, people got really into it and it we had people walking all weekend round the clock one year

people who will be helping you do the fundraiser can probably bring things from home that they think is useless and you guys can auction it off and use that money for the community..you know what they say One man's junk is another man's treasure! Well Good Luck!
