Holidays are on us with Thanksgiving and Christmas to follow. Will you be able to spend this time with friends and family. Also if you have anyone overseas serving the in military will you be able to visit by phone or send a box of goodies.

About 15 days ago, one of the soldiers I served with at my reserve center was killed in Iraq, 7 days before their scheduled rotation home. Keep in touch will everyone you love, for many will be gone too soon.

As our year comes to a close, how will you spend these holidays.

christina h, et. al., i was in iraq from april 03 until april 04. at the time I got there, we were without anything we did not carry until about august or september.

the heat burns off in oct, and you could send anything pretty much without it melting. pretty much from oct to march, it should be cool through out most of iraq. I was south and west of Baghdad in Nov for thanksgiving with the 10th mountain division and it was very cold. About 3 weeks later, I was on the syrian boarder in a snow storm and the following week on the jordanian boarder and then back to my base before heading down to the saudi boarder. I was cold when traveling, cold when stopped and that was the good news.

My sympathies over the loss of your friend.

yes, I have the luck fo spending the holidays with family - my eldest child gest to come home- but from college, not overseas.

I hope you get to spend time with your family - even if it's only a phone call home.

Stay well, stay alive, let us know if you need anything.

I'm very sorry about your friend. I hope you know there are those who are very proud of him and can never express how truly grateful we are to him. It is a debt that can never be repaid with words. I will be spending mine with family and friends and sending care packages to hubby's buddies still in service and my bro in law who is in Iraq. Have you been over there? If so could you answer a question? Hubby was on a ship and so are his buddies and I realize that it is different than sending it to Iraq. So what kinds of snacks would be good to send my bro in law in Iraq that won't melt?

Thanks it makes shopping for goodies that much easier.

Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13) I am very sorry to hear of your loss of a friend. May the God of all comfort comfort you and your friend's love ones through this hurtful time. Please be aware that there is a multitude of people that do not have time to parade and protest, and speak poorly about our military because they work and are busy with their families. It is them that you protect and who are infinitely grateful for yours and others service to our country. God Bless our veterans and their families. I may have to work on Thanksgiving, but will be no less thankful for many things. Among those is our hard won and maintained freedom.

The way people celebrate Yule.

Basically no different than Christmas, then. A tree, mulled wine, presents... maybe a tree log to burn, if I'm lucky. But loads of mulled wine and other alcoholic drinks.

Friends/family optional.

Thank George Bush for your compatriot's demise, and know that the entire Republican party is behind keeping you there to die for nothing.

I'd rather see all of you home for the holidays, and taking care of domestic problems instead of dying for someone else's problems.
