It's not like they're cohorts or anything. Think of them as complimentary. Like Yin and Yang. The reason for God to allow Lucifer to continue to exist is simple: to show how good and merciful he really is. Think about it. If God is all powerful, why would he allow such an opposition to exist? He could've simply erased Lucifer's existence from the cosmos from the very beginning and not have any problems right? I mean Isn't he supposed to know the future? If he does then surely he would know that his beloved Lucifer would eventually betray him? The thing is we can only know what God is NOT but we don't know what he really is. We know for a fact that he is not evil, he is not human, etc. but we really can't tell what he is... So in order to support the idea and compliment the goodness that is God, then Lucifer is allowed to oppose him so that we will have the notion that God is indeed not evil (that part played by Lucifer) and that he is good.

No, I don't think God needs satan. Hell was originally made especially for satan and his demons, not people. So God had a ready-made place for sinners. If man had never sinned, I'm sure satan would still be around trying to tempt people into sinning. I'm not sure if hell needs a warden. I think once you're there, you not getting out whether satan is there or not. Satan doesn't "need" souls but he wants them. Yes, satan would be out of business w/o God since God created even him. I don't really have any confusion over it.

never thought about like that. however, i feel that God doesnt NEED satan but because satan is here and has "taken" over that duty of hell's "warden" thats basically a way of God letting satan feel that he is special in some kind of way. when in fact in the end, all that which the devil felt was his is going to be destroyed including his so called sinner clients. God doesnt punish us, we punish ourselves. True, without God satan would be outta bisniz, but thats the whole point. temporary satisfacation.

Isn't that why the Jews believe Satan is just doing work God assigned him?

No , none of what you said makes sense based on Scripture and Sacred Tradition. But in answer to your first question, I would think that God is simply disappointed.

Satan doesn't need souls, and neither does God.

"Without God, Satan would be out of business?"
You can also argue that without Satan scaring people, God would be out of business himself. I think they have a very cozy relationship and get along quite well. I think their rivalry is staged, like professional wrestling.

You might be a believer, but you sound really confused.
You should worry more about how God feels about you than how He feels about satan.

Dad holds long grudges. i think someday he'll get over it and we'll all have parties. but it might be a long long time. you don't know the full story...but one time, satan put a kick me sign on god's back....man, it was all fun and games till chuck norris showed up.
