I've watched drivers get out and run from back in the 70's. That was racing, If you had the car that ran and the gonads to get out and race that car, That was racing. Now they have restrictor plates and cry babies. No, I'm not a race fan anymore, It's not racing. It's just an over rated club

how dare you..... just think alittle and you will ,,well maybe change your mind. Everything progresses, these teams have very little room to play with they have everything narrowed down and figured out within the rules of nascar. I to remember when a guy would lay back and make a run to win the race, oh wait Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson have been doing this all year long. I miss Dale Sr. , and David Allison and hate ALL of the commercials during a race , whats w/ that dont the cars and drivers advertise enough??
As far as restrictor plates go I think it was a must and the racing is great... and the only cry baby is RYAN NEWMAN. maybe he should join you and go eat pie and complain about being fat like the rest of the ******.
L all in fun but how does one go from being a fan to not being a fan as the sport grows and progresses?? You must not have been a fan from the GETGO. sorry if you are insulted but have a good day anyway..

I pay good money to watch 43 cars race. But the owners that foot the bills go crying to NASCAR that their sponsor is threatening to leave because they did not quailify BOO-Hoo-Hoo.
So NASCAR developes a plan to assure the top MONEY teams are racing, thus the top 35 in owners points is born.Oh you will race on Sunday. But at last new and up and coming teams get screwed.
Owners run to NASCAR and cry the championship is not consistant my driver won "x" times but come in 2nd and Joe Blow did not win but won the championship, whine whine whine. So NASCAR creates the CHASE.Now this settles everyone down.NOT>
Now sand bagging can get a driver in the chase, that is he maintains a 9th-10-th-11th-or 12th place runs and can quailify for the chase and can be a super star by winning the championship.
Sure this is ficticious but bet that it could and may have happened.
The Ironman racers are gone and the drivers today know how to play a wait and jump game to save their cars. The Ironman drivers raced hard bimped rubbed and knocked people out of the way, today if that happens it's boo-hoo-hoo and run to the NEXTEL hauler and whine.
So much for my ranting.THe REAL days of NASCAR are gone thanks to the profiters of NASCAR.

You are right that Nascar is not racing anymore. It was racing when Dale Sr., Alan Kulwicki, Cal Yarbourgh, Bobby Allison and so many other great drivers raced. Racing today is all riged and it just is not racing anymore. There is way to many cheaters and babies over anything and everything. One of the biggest babies of the sport is Tony Stewart. He cried so much this season about Juan Montoya not moving out of the way for him to pass and so much more.

I'd like to some, no wait, ALL of the P.C. crap taken out of NASCAR and let these guys be race cars drivers instead of salesmen.

Back in the day, when did you ever hear Petty, Waltrip, Pearson or Parsons thank 50 sponsors in thier interviews ?????????

It's all about the money and it sucks.............I know the drivers, crews and teams all need to get paid, and for that they need sponsors, but It's really gotten crazy. Sad too.

Bill Elliotts.... ''GONADS'' were getting too big,in the middle 80's... That's the reason for the PLATES.. I'm not sure, just yet, about agreeing with the over rated club thing. If you go... it still has that ''one big family'' feel when your at the track...Atlanta does anyway. It has however, and I'm sure alot of fans will agree on this one.Nascar has lost alot of it's INTEGRITY !!!

The only thing in your rant that I agree with is your disdain for restrictor plates. I also remember the 70s, and why they called DW "Jaws". Now that was one real cry baby...

Todays nascar isant aything like it used to be...Sponsors,owners,and even the car companys are out to make the glorious buck...I think that the true pasion of racing has gone...Ticket prices are high...The price of going to the race is almost not affordable...I used to go to bristol, talledega in the late 70,s early 80,s and it,s not the same...I,m told that attendence has been dwindling the past couple of years...

It's not like they run moonshine anymore, so yeh, it's about the money. Just like all the other sports are about the money.

Geez louise, I get tired of the whining, not by the drivers, but by those who want NASCAR to be like it was at it's inception. GO TO A DIRT TRACK IF YOU WANT "PURE RACING"!!!
