G-d answered that already in the Bible: (Hebrew reads "ki lo yir'ani ha'adam v'chai") "man cannot see Me and live." He figures it's better to keep us alive and remain "hidden", but allowing us to feel His presence.
The only time in history where we have Him revealing Himself, was at Mt. Sinai, when the Jews lost consciousness and had to be revived to hear the rest of the Commandments (and I don't think that was even a complete revelation).

Moses insisted to see God, when God showed Himself on a nearby mountain, Moses fell unconscious and the mountain was burned.
Current human body of this life is not capable to see God. After God resurrects all humans with new indestructible body to be presented to God for Judgment of our deeds in this life, all humans will be able to see God.

each and every now and then technological understanding takes somewhat faith too. the important component is to never stop searching for the respond. God telling us would not be scientific information. that could only be God telling us. Then there would not be a desire for technological understanding anymore. And that is unhappy. as properly God gave us those brains. He needs us to apply them no longer sit down around and argue.

A Christian would say that he did show Himself in the presence of Jesus Christ. And they actually did hurt Him.

God is revelaing himself to you all the time. Look out and see the grass and trees, He is there. You feel His presence all the time also. That is what hell is, a place without His presence. He is always calling to you to come close, He will not hurt you, He promises.

Perhaps His essence isn't a form we'd readily recognize.
Remember the last time he showed Himself, He was executed.
