Jehovah's Witnesses have a religious tradition that they do not accept blood transfusions, and from that, I presume that they also do not donate blood. However, there is no prohibition against any other Christian sect donating or receiving blood.

It saves lives, and if you have a rare blood type (like AB-), that is always in short supply and is needed. Also, if your blood type is O- you should donate, because that type blood can be used by anyone.

No, it's not true. There are some psuedo-Christian sects, such as the Jehovah's Witnesses, who think that blood donation is wrong.

But most (if not all) mainline Christian denominations have no problem with it.

I'm Catholic, and Catholicism sees blood donation as a great act of charity. If anything, Catholicism would encourage blood donation, not forbid it.

I believe that most Protestant denominations see it the same way.

the only ones i'm particular of could be Jehovah's Witnesses, who refuse transfusions. I as quickly as worked for a doctor and a JW affected person exchange into having a minor, non-surgery and asked to have a checklist to sign that decrease than no concern could he have transfusions. So i could think of donating blood besides as receiving it may be considered incorrect. I think of Christian Scientists who have not got faith in scientific therapy could additionally no longer donate blood. maximum mainstream Christian church homes, Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, Methodists, etc. have not got any problem, quite many hospitals and scientific centers are run via the Catholic Church and different denominations. To my understanding Jewish human beings have not got any problem with donating blood or getting transfusions, although i do no longer know approximately extremely-orthodox Jews. i do no longer know what Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. think of of it. yet interior the US there are a number of medical doctors of Islamic, Buddhist, and Hindu backgrounds besides as Christians and Jews, and that i've got in no way heard of it being a difficulty.

This is not true of Christians. It is true of Jehovah's Witnesses. If you aren't one of them, you won't have a problem.
