20/25 is hardly dreadful.
(You could drive a car with it...)

Certainly there is no obvious case for constant glasses with that acuity.
If there is a significant difference *between* the two eyes at that age, however, there is a risk of amblyopia, lazy eye , developing and at the least your daughter will need checks every 6/12 to make sure this is not occuring.

If the eyes are of unequal acuity, spectacles for part-time use, for example "just TV and drawing and looking at books" might be worth doing, but this would depend on more details that you have supplied.
On the bare information above, I suspect I would have suggested to you: "We'll see her again in six months and then we'll decide."

I have had astigmatism for 40 years. They caught it as a young child. She sees everything, but it's fuzzy. You can have perfect vision, but still have astigmatism. It's has something to do with the shape of the eye and how images are reflected. But, as a mom, if you want a second opinion - get one! I probably would!

If you do not trust the doctor, take her to another one to have an exam. If both say the same thing, then get your child glasses so that she can have correct visual input to her brain--which will impact her school success later on.

It is entirely possible for children to need glasses that early; both I and one of my kids started wearing glasses at 3.
