…her/him?

I think that anyone living in today's society who claimed to be the messiah would be regarded as having some sort of mental disorder. If you agree, then answer this:

What difference does the fact that he lived two millenia ago make?

-Please note that the only reason I specify Christians is that they worship someone who was a person with a physical body rather than an abstract being.

There are people in videos or that have been seen live that do things that don't seem to fit the laws of physics, yet most of us don't worship them….

according to the christian bible, the book of acts reports jesus was seen several times in a different body each time and the disciples could not recognize him. he had to tell them who he was. if jesus came back, would anyone recognize him today? how would you know that person was not jesus?

Sure I might believe him or her, it depends on a number of things. I do agree that he or she would be regarded as having some sort of megalomania if they claimed to be christ. Yet, did not society react in a similar way to Jesus?

re: I don't know if he/she would eventually be regarded as the christ. That dude from Waco, TX was convinced that he was Christ come back but I am sure that most people don't believe him today. Of course, he didn't ressurect himself 3 days after he died.

You know in the Hindu culture if someone said that they were God in the flesh like Jesus claimed, they would say "congrats, you finally found out."

Yes Jesus Christ who actually live wholly a man 2000 years ago is so authenticated in the Bible (Internal evidence) and in the records of world history (external evidence). The Bible clearly shows that He was wholly God and wholly man and He was only the one that demonstrated that there is life after death by resurrecting Himself from the dead. And this is the only blessed hope (Titus 2:13) that Christians are literally expecting. That literal eternal life He has promised to those who will believe and recieve Him as their Lord God and Saviour. If God never lie, and this promised will not come true, then God will lost His name. But if this will true, its a big rejoicing for all Christians. And you too can be a Christian by simply believing and recieving Him as your Lord God and Saviour (Ephesians 2:8-9)

That's just it. True Christians do not see Christ as an abstract being but alive today in spirit. That is a supernatural phenomenon which cannot be understood through the natural senses.

Read in the Bible how Jesus says He will return. There will be no chance of mistaking Him for a mentally ill person.

If you read the New Testament, there are many references that are cited from Isiah and other Old Testament prophecies.

Society saw Him perform miracles, so it was a matter of "seeing is believing".

Well, there is the able to do miracles thing...if I saw someone who could walk on water I would consider worshiping her or him.
