Do you believe that someone who needs an antidepressant to adjust their brain chemistry has a physiological need as real as someone who needs insulin for diabetes? Do you feel that people who take Prozac need to be embarassed to admit it?

A very close family member of mine has type 1 diabetes. You have to be careful who you tell that to. Getting health insurance with a pre-existing condition of any kind is a nightmare. Anyone with a medical condition needs to be careful. Many people are ignorant or intolerant. If a diabetic has to use a needle for insulin all some people see is the needle. I personally believe that depression which is due to a lack or predominence of a chemical should be chemically treated. If the medicine makes you better, take it.

I have taken prozac and a lot of other anti depressants, and i relly dont give a crap who knows.... if someone was to acctually make fun of me for it i think id tell them i diddnt take my pills this week and start fidgeting with my knife..
I also take insulin and i dont try to grose people out with it, but i do take it at the table when no ones looking. Shallow people make mean comments about prozac and other drugs like it, but at least there trying to make them selves feel right, the shallow clowns dont even know their damaged goods.

Yes and No. If something is keeping you healthy and happy, why should it cause shame or embarrassment?
