NASCAR has done some pretty stupid things over the years, but the Chase tops the list. If a driver outside of the "magic circle" gets hot at the end of the year, they don't have the chance to get in the top ten. Even if they win ten races,it makes no difference. This really needs to be changed.

What makes it idiotic is the playoff is being played in "regular season" contests. It is as if the Red Sox had to defeat Cleveland and also Kansas City & Detroit to get to the World Series (but KC or Detroit could win the series, but not advance to the Fall Classic because they aren't qualified to do so).
I would rather see NASCAR weigh the last ten races heavier in points for the Top 10 finishers than this confusing hodge-podge that makes the BCS look sensible.

I like the Chase it gives it more competition , because they are going after points and a championship. And plus more people watch the races on T.V. because there is more competition . I actually watch it more because of that. I really don't care who wins the Championship, I think Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson is fine to win. But I wish Tony Stewart would win, but Oh, well life goes on. You can't do nothing to change it.

The Chase blows.
It is a political idea to keep certain teams in the championship contention.
NASCAR should go back to
A) the FASTEST 43 race, sorry if a "GQ" driver or a deep pockets team misses a race just come back next week.
B) The driver/team with the most points wins the championship.Period.
C) Get reid of Provisionals,Top 35 FREE RIDES,and the chase.Go back to real racing.

Jim M is dead on that your argument doesn't make a lot of sense.
The chase needs some tweaking, but NASCAR will never go back to the old system. The championship would have been decided 3 races ago under the old system, and that's not good for ratings.

Your logic is all over the place. Gordon had a huge lead on Johnson after 26 races. If we had no Chase, Gordon would have run away with it, giving Menard and Yeley no incentive to keep going. At least where the also-rans are concerned i don't see where having a chase or not having one makes a difference.
When the Chase started, Gordon's big lead was taken away. Who got the 50 point lead, using your example?
I would agree the Chase needs an overhaul, but I think your argument is poorly constructed.

I have changed my mind a tiny bit on the chase this year, but I still think it's a very cool way to add some drama.
Another good way would be to shorten the chase to 5 races instead of 10.

it doesnt make a difference because the season is so long. they could just race a twelve race season and have the same results. I'm so thankful the NASCAR season is as long as it is. Motorsports "rule" and racing is the same as gambling only it has it's own jurisdiction. You can't win if you don't play, and nobody's forcing you to compete. (by "you" i'm referring to the team owned driver) Don't even try comparing Motorsports to a ball game. it's a whole different level of competition, because it involves a machine instead of a ball.
