I read a lot of questions and answers on here by Jr. fans that think that because he is moving to HMS next season everything is going to fall right into his lap! I read everything from he'll win a lot of races next year to he'll win his first championship next year!
I am a Dale Jr. fan and I don't see it that way!
New crew!
New owner and organization!
2 multiple championship drivers and crews on that same team with him!
Not to mention other owners teams catching up on the COT!
I'm looking at this as a step forward in Dale Jr.'s career, but I'm thinking that it's going to take awhile, maybe years, before we see the fruits of this change! Everyone at HMS can not win all the time!!!
I guess what I'm really asking is why you think he is going to jump right into an HMS car and win everything right away?

I like Tacos, no need to apologize! I now you are a nice guy. There was some truth in your fist answer. I do tend to play with words in my questions in order to get more responses. In other words make the question interesting. The bad side of doing things that way is that if someone doesn't like the question or the answer they think it will produce they analyze the question instead of answering it! I think that's what you did and it is OK with me!!
I respect your opinion and your right to give it! I'm not perfect, but I've been thinking for a long time that some of Jr.'s fans are expecting to much to early. I might be wrong. But judging from the bulk of these answers more than a few people agree! Take Care!!

Your exactly right, but you got ot realize your dealing with the general public here (if you know what I mean) HMS is going to have a lot on their hands in 2008, because I can see at least six drivers that are going to be making team Hendrick work very hard to keep on top. But it is true it's not just the driver, but the whole team as an organization. Junior definately isn't going to win the championship next year, but he might win a couple races. It's fortunate that Junior will have better equipment next year, but it's also unfortunate that he wasn't employed by Hendrick for his driving abilities. HMS may be the most powerful team in NASCAR, but remember, racing is like gambling. You can win most of the time, you won't win all of the time. And a good thing doesn't last forever. 2008 season should prove to be very entertaining with the evolution of it's changing competition, either by the new rules/regulations, or by drivers ability.

I agree, I do not think he will be champion next year. The beauty of the chase format however is that if he does manage to make the top twelve (which I think he will) he will have the oppurtunity to run for a championship. I think overall it is going to be a good year for him, winning two or three races, but I think he will face some bumps in the road, too. There will be a learning curve, and he may have difficulties at certain types of tracks. But what he has in his favor is that the Hendricks team does seem to be the best at information sharing, so he should be able to learn and adapt with help from his stable mates. The scenario that scares me, as a loyal JR fan is this: Gordon and Johnson both dominate again next year winning 6-8 races a piece, Jr. wins one or maybe even none and fades into obscurity like Casey Mears. I don't know if his name has even been mentioned once during the broadcast of the previous few races. That is the scenario that could potentially make this move a mistake for Jr. He needs to live up to expectations, or he will become just another one of "those other hendrick drivers"

Confused?Heck half of 'em are still a buzz from his present sponsor. They don't even realize this is the last race of the season.
Then the other half are wanting to reserve Junior championship shirts for next year.Well maybe so but he has a heack of a lot to do to get to that point.Sure Hendrick is a top team and is capable of winning but Junior has only tested with the team on a limited base so far.Let's see where he gets the firs 8 or so races then see the picture.

Ignore "I like tacos," that answer is ridiculous. I could pick that answer to pieces if I had the time to waste.
I think that you captured his situation extremely well in your question. He has all of that and more to contend with. Many of his fans do think that him going to Hendrick will be the magic bullet for them. But I've got a feeling that a lot of those fans don't really know too much about NASCAR.
The Jr. fans who really understand this sport know that thi move will be good for him from a performance standpoint. HMS has the best equipment, and this will help their driver's chances at winning. While they would like to see him win a championship next year, I don't think they're counting on it.

no matter where jr goes, hes still the same driver after 9 ys hes not going to get better, yes he may win a race or 2, but the equipment excuse is getting old, dale sr did not have junk think about it, mikey went from losing what 400 some races got dei equipment and won the 500 2, so dont tell me teresa was sabitozing jr, thats just dumb, jr s talent is just average and hell be the same, hendricks making a big mistake getting rid of bush and taking jr, yes they will sell more crap with jr name but well see, i say jr will be the same

I'm happy he is going to HMS, I don't expect miracles immediately, Tony Jr is already at HMS getting his stuff together. Hey the COT crap from DEI, at least HMS has the engineering and techs they have that part together already. I'm sure other teams will do there best to catch up with HMS in the off season, but HMS is not going to let that bother them one bit.... His first race will be in Daytona he has won this race before, it would be great to see him win...But hey to see him just FINISH a race without a blown motor, wheel falling off, or being in crappy equipment, hey I will be happy...When he starts winning, I will be one happy Dale Jr fan, just like all his other fans..

Look Mears moved and has only won one race. So what! Big deal!!!! So, like you stated and everybody is thinking is that next year is going to be a put up or shut up year for the guy. Don't get me wrong, I think the dude is cool. He is only good at the short tracks and the super-speedways. We'll know by this time next year how good he really is. NO MORE EXCUSES JR. FANS!

I'm with you. I think ultimately in the long run this will definitely benefit him. I don't however think it is going to happen overnight. These are big changes, and there is going to be an adjustment period for him, and the other team members. I do expect him to win a few races next year. I don't expect him to take home a championship so soon, but I do see it in his future.

Oh heck I'll tone it down some. I don't think he will jump straight in and win everything. I do think he will be competitive from the get go.
I apologize about my previous post. It's just that so many people come on here for bashing that no matter what the truth is they keep twisting things around just for the argument.
The reason Jr went to HMS is for better equipment. Jr is a great driver and it will not take long to be on top. Tony has all the notes from DEI and half of his present crew will be with him.
It's not going to be that hard for him to compete from the start.
---------------------
I tend to play with words too. That's the reason I toned it down.

I'm a Jr fan too and if you look @ Casey Mears season, Jr could have a season like his (I hope not, but I do have to wonder). Also, look @ Kyle Bush's season. He may have made the chase, but his equipment just doesn't seem to be the same as #48 & 24
