My 15 month old has gone from a very small diet of pancakes, some fruit, cheese sandwiches and peanut butter and jelly to crackers. She literally won't eat anything except ritz crackers, and for the most part all she wants is juice or milk which we add pediasure to. It looks to me like she is losing weight. The doctor says to just keep trying to introduce foods, but it's getting worse. I'm starting to get really worried about her. What should I do? Please help me....any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think she is testing you. As hard as it may be you have to let her know that she can not have crackers all the time. If she is truly hungry she will eat other things. Also, you should also get another doctor because yours doesn't seem to have a very good manner.

If your child likes Ritz crackers give them to her but with something on different on them every-time. Or maybe try not feeding are except for at certain times. ex :Breakfast at 7 or 8a.m, a snack at 10a.m.(this would be a good time for the Ritz crackers, Lunch at 12, a snack at 3p.m. and 6 or 7p.m. dinner. And then there is always the way my mom did when I was growing up. If you didn't eat what she cooked you were just hungry. My mom was a single mom and we didn't have a lot of money. And she would say "when you get hungry enough , you will eat what's in the kitchen or what I've cooked.

Hmm...if she only wants liquids maybe some thing is wrong with her mouth or teeth? I would take a look inside her mouth.

If everything is okay with that is there a change in diet? Have you suddenly tried to give he food she is not used to ? Conversely, have you been giving her the same thing over and over?

It also could be a physiological...a lot of time when young children are not happy with what is going on they will act out by not eating...its there way of saying they are not happy.

The incredible thing about kids is that they only eat when they are hungry. I would try to keep introducing foods and she will soon come around but they are so busy exploring. 15 months isn't a long time and there is a lot to see.

make sure she drinks lots of milk (preferably breast milk) and not too much juice (the sugar is bad...ALWAYS water down juice for children under 4). her tastes buds are probably changing right now and ritz are apealing since they are bland and textureless. sometimes strong textures bother babies. i'd say try giving her rice pudding & other baby food again - this may be comforting to her. mild cheeses will be good as well. talk to your pediatrician about this! good luck!

Get a scale and weigh the kid. All mothers think their kids are losing weights. You could try and switch the crackers for some nutrition crackers, but I imagine the docter is right and your kiddy will get bored. BTW: why isn't your kid eating REAL FOOD at 15 months old.

Does she go to daycare or do you have older or even other childern around her that are picky about there food and state it out loud I used to do day care and the smaller childern wouldn't eat if the other childern said eww or any bad comments about food. If there are other kids ask them to keep there comments to themselves sorta if you can't say any thing nice don't say any thing at all. Other wise not sure defenitly try what you can.

My son went through that stage for about a month and then he started eating like he usually would. He would eat better if I would put his food on a plate in front of him rather than me trying to feed him myself. I think it's just something they go through at that age...

My son went through a phase similar to that. He was tired of me feeding him, he wanted to do it himself. Try giving her some mac&cheese with a spoon to feed herself. It will be messy but it might start the eating process again. Good luck.

I just went through this with my 13 month old and thanks to the people of Yahoo Answers he is eating again and everything's OK.It was just a phase he was going through.I just set him down at his usual eating time and offered him food and if he didn't eat then we would try the next time.He eventually got hungry enough and finally caved and ate now he eats just fine.
