If the kitten is weaned, and already eating dry food, then go ahead and give it some dry in a bowl, to "snack" on. ALWAYS HAVE FRESH WATER AVAILABLE! Then, give it some meat (for kittens) a couple of times a day, for awhile. When I was raising kittens (Siamese/Himalayan), that's what I'd do. They loved having the meat, but soon learned that the dry was good for making their gums feel good. I always gave mine Iam's KITTEN at first, cause it's small. After they could eat better, I sometimes switched to Hill's Science Diet KITTEN, cause it's a little oilier, and probably tastes better. Whichever you decide, just know that your kitten needs KITTEN food for 1 full year!! Adult food just doesn't have what a growing kitten needs. Enjoy your new baby.

I would stick with a high quality kitten food since she is so young. Iams or Science Diet is really good. You can use the canned or dry, whatever you think you will feed her regularly once she gets bigger. Because her teeth are still immature, and you don't know how long she has been weened, you may need to soften even dry food with some water in the beginning. Eventually, cats can be very happy on dry food alone, but I would stick with one of the better quality brands even though it is a bit more expensive.

no, this is not normal. Has the vet check for worms? Pet stores are never good places to buy a pet. They are in it for the wrong reasons, the animals often come from breeder mills where proper care is not given. HAve the cat checked for worms, including tapeworms which over the counter wormer wont kill. What are you feeding? a change in diet from what the breeder and then the store was feeding it will give it diahrea. And then you did a diet change on top. Also 4 weeks old is way to young for this kitten to be taken away from momma. They should nurse at least 8 weeks. I would buy some kitten replacement milk and try to get it to bottle feed or drink this from a bowl. A supplemental vitamin wouldnt hurt either. good luck and turn in the pet store to an animal cruelty animal neglect agent or SPCA.

Go to http://www.littlebigcat.com and read some of the many articles there on feline nutrition by Dr. Jean Hovfe. It should help clear up some of your confusion.
Personally I would do a raw meat diet for any kitten I would be acquiring now. Alternatively I would use a combination of Wellness kitten dry and regular Wellness canned for meat.

Personally I would go with wet food for a kitten. If you feel like it, you can also cook up some scrambled eggs and mix them with dry food. Hope this helps.

Don't feed the kitty anything with by-product in it. You will see by-product in the ingredients on the bag. The only thing I have ever found that doesn't have by-product is Science Diet Nature's Best. Also, I called the makers of Science Diet to make sure they don't have any of their product imported from China (because of the pet food scare) and they said it's all made here in the USA.

Kitten food. It can be wet or dry. At that age, it should be fine.
