When I couldn't get a hold of my brothers in the faith, my atheist friend prayed with me. I asked him why he did that. He said, because your my friend. Does that make him a weak atheist. Our prayers worked.

By weak, i mean by your atheistic standards. I know he is a good friend.

Because he is your friend.
It doesn't make him a weak anything, it makes him a good person. He respects your beliefs and helped you do what you thought was best. I do the same thing with my mother when she asks and I could do ay sort've spiritual thing with anyone of any faith, with good intentions. Doesn't mean I believe in it, but I think it's a kind gesture on my part to lend positive vibes to any situation.

Since he's your friend, I suggest you ask him. That said, it seems possible that he simply wanted to be supportive of you, in any way he could, and felt that praying with you would ease your mind. The fact that he put your needs before his beliefs should tell you what a good friend you have. I hope that you're as supportive of him and his beliefs.
No, your prayers did not "work." Whatever happened would have happened with or without praying. Next time, instead of praying, try a Magic 8-Ball. The results will be as reliable: yes, no, maybe, wait.

[Excerpt]
"Prayer Does Not Work. Sorry.
Once again, it's all in your mind..
"In a long-awaited comprehensive scientific study on the effects of intercessory prayer on the health and recovery of 1,802 patients undergoing coronary bypass surgery in six different hospitals, prayers offered by strangers had no effect. In fact, contrary to common belief, patients who knew they were being prayed for had a higher rate of post-operative complications such as abnormal heart rhythms, possibly the result of anxiety caused by learning that they were being prayed for and thus their condition was more serious than anticipated."

It means he's a great friend. Maybe your being strong in your faith is softening his heart toward God. I'm glad it worked out for you. Plus, good job on your part. Jesus would be proud.

It makes him a very Strong friend. He accepts you as you are and is willing to do something he might not like for you. And he doesnt seem to be asking for anything in exchange.
People like that are needed to make this a better world.
I am a believer.

I think it just makes him a compassionate friend. He willingly put his personal views aside to participate in something that outwardly doesn't agree with but something that you wanted him to do with you. That is a true friend. You are lucky to have a friend like that in your life.

God is not touched by the people that are praying, but by the faith that is released. Anyone can pray.
