Oxycontin is the the slow release form of the medication and oxycodone is the immediate release form of the exactly same medication. They are IDENTICAL(except for their release rates).

I do not know what the trade names are in your country but in Australia - oxycodone slow release (SR) is called "oxycontin" and oxycodone immediate release is called "endone" or "oxynorm"

Oxycontin is an extended release form of oxycodone. You can get just plain oxycodone which is immediate release, or percocet which is a combination of immediate release oxycodone and tylenol. Oxycontin is just the oxycodone in a long-release form.

Endocodone®
OxyContin®
Oxydose®
OxyFast®
OxyIR®
Percolone®
Roxicodone®
Roxicodone® Intensol®

These all have the same base (opiods)but each is different. But all effect the parasympathetic nervous system in the same manner(this is why they are so highly addictive). Rush Limbaugh knows all too well about all these drugs he had over 3,000 doses while he was rippin on people who are addicted to street drugs. But you have to be a republican with lots of money to get off commiting felonies (doctor shopping and getting his cleaning lady to also get drugs for him by doctor shopping too) and still spout crap over the airwaves.
