does Rat and Mouse repeller realy work?

It's not very reliable in my experience.
I've seen an electric pest repeller in a rat-infested garage, and there was no rat poop within one foot of it!
I've tried bobcat urine and got no results.
A real cat works best.
Traps cut down the number of rodents, or closing up all the holes can exclude them from coming in.
