A cat who receives a daily brushing (twice daily or more in the spring) will be low shedding. A cat who receives constant love and positive feedback will be laid back. A cat who is raised with a dog will get along with the dog. If introducing them later in the cat's life, it has to be done very gradually. So, in short, while there are some differences, it's not the breed of cat or the particular cat you get, it's what you do to form the cat that counts in these areas.

short haired cats shed little hairs all the time

long haired cats shed clumps so it is easier to pick up after them

Sphinx cats are hairless but they need to be bathed

personally, I love the long haired kitties. I think maybe a Cornish Rex cat (the kind with wavy fur) might be easy to maintain

Go to cat fancy.com or google cat breeds and it will give you a list where you can choose which fits your needs. a Sphinx is a hairless cat. Not a 5 stars on the cute factor though.
