She died, and I keep wondering "If I took her to the vet as soon as I saw her get hit by a car, would she still be here?"

My mom did not want to take her to the vet, and by the time I managed to get to the vet, she was bleeding out of her nose..

I feel really horrible..

It depends on where she was bleeding from, and getting hit by a car can puncture many vital organs. If it were a smaller bleed then I would say yes, she may have had a chance but the chances of a small bleed are slim to none. If it were a larger bleed, and it probably was (especially if the spleen ruptured, which is common in car victims) then there would have been not a whole lot the vet could do. They might have rushed her into surgery but without knowing exaclty where she was bleeding it would have been a slim chance. Don't beat yourself up about it.

I'm really sorry that you lost your cat....especially the way you did. It's too bad that your mom didn't respect you and your pet enough to take you to the vet immediately. One lesson to be learned from this tragedy, though, is......don't let your cats go outside. There are just too many dangers....cars, dogs, poisons (antifreeze leaking from a car is one really bad one), etc. When you finally got her to the vet, did he think he could have saved her if she'd gotten there sooner? If not, then you did all you could, and should just grieve for as long as you have to, and take care of, and love, any other animals that you have. Good luck.....

If you had any animal emergency centers, they can do everything that a human hospital can do short of radiation treatment for cancer. Most vets could at least have seen if they could have helped her. Waiting didn't make a problem go away.

I'm sorry your cat passed on. If/when this ever happens again, please DO NOT wait--put the cat in a carrier and get them in to a vet's office. Your mom's priorities were wrong.

All things considered, probably not. The vet might have been able to make her comfortable, but the sad truth is, animals hit by cars usually die.
I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my Isidore about 5 weeks ago to brain damage. He was born with it and there was really nothing anyone could do about it.
Hang in there.

Listen, animals are very resilient. We see this as children and it carries over to our thinking as adults. If your cat didn't show signs right away then there is a part of you that hoped she was just banged up a bit.
I am in the same position, but, it's a terminal genetic fault in my cats breed. I just hoped he would get over it, and now he is doomed. This will impact me for a very long time. But, we learn and live. I guarantee this will not happen a second time!

When we lose who we love, we tend to look for a way we could have avoided the tragedy and blame ourselves for not doing it. This is a destructive behavior that will only bring you more pain. Sometimes the best thing to do is to believe it was their time and there was nothing going to stop that. And just be grateful for the wonderful times you shared.

I know exactly how you feel. I went throught this back in July when I lost my beloved tabby male to a road accident the same way. There would have been nothing you could have done for your precious one. It would have been internal injuries. Just know that they are at peace.

Yep - that's probably the main reason any animal dies after being hit by a car.
