I would have to say I prefer the shower curtain over the doors.
I like the shower curtain, because you can always "re-decorate just by buying a new shower curtain, rugs and towels. But there is always the issue of making sure the curtain is in the tub when showering, so the floor won't get wet. I buy a liner (plain white or clear) and keep that one in the tub while the decorative one hangs on the outside.
If you have small kids the shower with doors are a pain. The kids can slip and get hurt, and you have to lean over them when bathing the kids, not to mention they can be difficult to clean, especially if you have hard water.

I think the shower/tub combo with the sliding doors are pretty dated, if you're looking at it as a remodel option. I would vote against that.
From a resale perspective a walkin shower & separate tub are your best way to go, ideally with the walk-in tiled in some sort of natural stone or at least 12" ceramic tile.
If you don't have the room or budget for that, then as large a tub as you can fit and a shower curtain is fine, and the rage in tubs right now is jetted tubs.

I built a new house 9 years ago and put in some expensive glass enclosure doors in the bathtub. I wish I didn't because they are a pain to clean. My other bathroom I just have a shower curtain and I will never put glass doors in again because it's much easier to keep clean. Plus when you want to bath the little ones you have easy access to them without the doors. I hate the doors now.

I prefer the shower doors over a curtain, simply because they add value to the home.

Shower curtain. Anytime it starts to get dirty, soap scummy, or mildewy, I can just throw it in the washing machine with some bleach. I've never been able to find a really good way to clean glass doors that was as fast or effortless. And if I want to redecorate, I just take it down and put up a new one.

A curtain because liners are easier to maintain than doors, and have no runners to maintain either.
