They do get periods. They usually just lick it up. They sell dog pads, but you need to get her fixed anyways. She won't have them after you fix her.

She is fine, sounds like her heat cycle... How old is she? Is this the first time? This happens usually every six months. The total cycle usually last for about 3 weeks. The first week your dogs under areas will swell up, then the second week you will notice the bleeding, the last week the swollen area usually gets pulled up more towards her stomach so that it is easier if she is bred.
If your not going to breed your dog then the best way to stop this is to have her spayed. Just make sure that she is over her heat cycle before the surgery otherwise there is a risk of hemmorage.
They do make doggy diapers that can help with this as long as she will keep them on. Unfortunately there isn't a way to just make it stop. How long has she already been bleeding. If she just started then it'll be about another 10 days or so.
On another note, please don't take any offense to this, I would recommend doing some research on dogs. If you have a female dog and never realized that they have a heat cycle then there is a lot of other information that you really should familiarize yourself with in order to be a proper pet owner and do what's best for your dog.
Good Luck with your lil princess, I know how wonderful pets can be!!

Dogs don't have periods as such. They do bleed during the estrous cycle. More often called the heat cycle. This will happen every 6 months or so now unless you get her spayed (which you should) This means that in a few days she will be ready to breed. (Which you should, never do on the first heat, or better still not at all.)
Be prepared for having un-neutered males crying and howling at your door. Do not take her for walks. Take her into your yard on a leash when she needs to go potty. Never leave her unattended.
I would buy her doggie panties to help with the mess as it's going to last a long while. Mind you she will probably rip them off. Best idea would be to get her spayed right away. It will cost a little more with her being in heat and some vets won;t even do it while they are in heat. If not get it done as soon as the heat is over. It will be much better for you both. You won;t have the mess and the noise and she will no longer be at risk of several types of cancer.

It's not a period, it's called being in heat. Your dog was not spayed and now she's in a mood where she wants to make babies... if there are any un-neutered males within a mile radius of your place I'd watch out, because they'll try to procreate with her. The best thing to do is get her spayed, it's healthier for her, and you won't have this problem anymore. They do sell dog pads and dog diapers. She'll go into heat about every six months.

Yes dogs do get periods(aka In Heat) just go to Pet Smart and get doggie pads or doggie diapers. They help but it can be a little messy as well because some dogs(namely mine) don't like clothing or doggie diapers and they tend to rip them off and drip all over the place. Basically, you will go through this periodically every year unless you choose for her not to have puppies and get her spayed. PS Dogs also loose baby teeth too.

Dogs have what is called a heat cycle that they go through. They generally go through this 2 times a year in which they will attract ever dog around for probably a mile or two ( I think).
Your dog will be much happier and so much healthier if you will just get her spayed. It is the best thing that you can do for you, your dog, the neighbors, and the rest of the country as there are way, way, way too many unwanted dogs and cats that will have to be put down because someone didn't bother to have their pet spayed or neutered!!!!!!!!!

Actually, it's about the opposite of a human menstrual cycle, since it's the time when dogs CAN become pregnant. It's called an estrous (or estrus) cycle, or being "in heat". It typically occurs twice a year, and lasts about three weeks. Signs include a swelling and darkening of the vulva, and a discharge which contains blood.
If your dog will tolerate it, you can buy a belt that will hold a sanitary napkin to catch the discharge. They sell these at pet supply places. The refills are pretty expensive, but if you look in the grocery or drug store, you can probably find a size that will fit, at a much cheaper price.

3 weeks is the normal time frame, though it can differ from dog to dog. If you're going to breed her, you said 'soon' she will probably not survive the birthing. For the kind of dog she is,,all bulldog types, the chances of complications during birth are much higher than for other breeds. If you breed her before she is 2 yrs old and finished growing, the chances get even higher. It would be safer for her if you wait until she is grown. If you do manage to get her to have babies, or survive a c section, before she is an adult (2yrs) , you have a huge chance that she will abandon the babies,,and you'll be stuck with the raising of them. Vets suggest 2 yrs or 4th heat before breeding a female.

I'm doing basic obedience right now. My trainer hasn't once handled my dog. He has shown me how to handle my dog by using his own dog but that's about it. The reasoning is that I need to learn how to do these basic corrections and what not myself. Learn more https://tinyurl.im/4KNXu
I have never considered sending my dog away for training. I guess I haven't found that much of a problem with him to even think about it.
Again, it may also have to do with the level of training you are looking for etc. No idea lol. I'm not a trainer. I think a first time dog owner needs to learn simple commands and how to handle their dog themselves as well.
