We're only here to hopefully lend some insight....
There is much that faith teaches us. One of the first foundational things is patience to let God lead. When you say you need 'help' deciding....I smiled because you show by your wording that whatever God says its still your 'decision'. That sounds like a bit of a surrender issue (that we all have). I'll give you a good example. Ive been in my field a long time. Im good at it. Im comfortable. I happened on an opportunity to change fields and I didnt know if thats what God wanted me to do. Youknow what I did? I went on the interview and then I let it go. I said "God if its your will then those people will call me back". They never did. I'd left the decision in God's hands. If God is leading you, which Im sure He will if you are truly yielded to His direction..then your plans after school will become clear. You must have patience to wait though. The same goes for this thing that you said has dominated you. The realization is an awesome first step. You asked God to remove it. He hasnt thus far. The next step is to seek God for why that thing remains, amen? What is the purpose of your 'thorn'? Im sure the Israelites wanted to stop going around the mountain but until they had passed their spiritual test..they were destined to repeat till they 'got it'. I encourage you to trust God...be still. Learn patience in your faith and seek what He is trying to show you. After you have been tested you shall come forth as pure gold...

I had a prayer a few years ago; it took almost five years for it to be answered because I was the problem, not Him. I've found (not saying it's best for you) that when I pray for a certain thing, it's iffy if it will come; when I pray to know His will, it is usually then that I find an answer. I think that's the interesting thing about faith--there's always what seems a roundabout road to get where you are going, but when you get to the other side you realize that's the only road there was. Persevere and Keep the Faith! Blessings.

Jesus is not God. He is the Son of God sent by God from heaven to bring directly God's word. Remember Moses was not allowed to enter the promised land as a punishment for the errors he committed. Jesus on the other hand, rose from the dead (which made him the most famous person on the planet), which no prophet has done and will come a second time, which no prophet has done and the bible has several references where God says that Jesus is his son and no prophet has these references.

You have to learn how to hear His voice first. Pray in tongues and then wait for it. Focus on Jesus.
Another thing: the word of God helps you to grow with faith. When you read it, or pay close attention to what pastors are saying, you will remember that Jesus Christ, with His Holy Spirit is always with you. In Psalms in the Bible it is written that He is near all those who call on His name. Pretty soon you will realize that as soon as you come to Him He is already there waiting for you, even faster than you. How much more does He wanna talk to us than we wanna talk to Him, right? When you will know that He is THERE with you, in your room or wherever, it will be hard for you not to hear His voice or get His directions, messages, and signs.
When you received the Holy Spirit, you didn't just receive His beautiful Gifts, He began to live in you, and transform you, so He is not going away. But that's a whole 'nother subject. See how much deeper it goes? It goes pretty deep. lol, very deep actually, "from glory to glory''. I hope you know what I'm talking about.
Anyway, You'll be alright if you continue learning. He will begin (and probably already has) to teach you in many different ways. Just make sure you pay attention to what He is trying to tell you. Since you didn't learn to hear His voice yet, He will teach you through Pastors, television, radio, strangers, situations.. there might be more, lol.

God whispers and our selves can be so loud we cannot hear him. Sometimes the things in our lives are not to be removed because there is a lesson to be learned or a change we need to make. Continue to pray and listen and you will get the guidance you need, not necessarily the guidance you want, but it will be for your good and His glory.

If you pray to God for happiness does he just zap you with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give you the opportunity to be happy? Remember God helps those who help themselves, the situation may be that you pray for change, but lack the will to go through with what God gives you.

maybe the thing that has dominated your life is god and the reason you feel lost and upset is because you rely on him too much. try working things out for yourself, we have advanced brains for a reason

You missed by a mile.
There are conditions for about every promise God has made.
The big word "IF" is usually connected.
Communication through prayer is one way.
God's voice is in His Word.
Father has heard your prayers, but maybe the "IF" condition has not been met, or maybe it is not according to His will.

He is there...Things are answered, just maybe not on your time table. sometimes being patient is hard to do. "be still and know that I am God" thats my favorite verse. Sometime we just have to sit back and wait.

Pray as if it's totally up to God, and work as if it's totally up to you. God is with you as you work...
