First off "War is Hell", there really is no better way to describe it.

Sorry to tell you Michael P, the Army by far has the lowest ASVAB and Physical requirements of all services, they damn near will take anyone. The Marine Corps is much smaller than the Army and way more selective, we're talking a few hundred thousand in the Corps to Millions and Millions in the Army. When you go to MEPS for US Military written and physical entry exams and you see the other services' recruits you'll see the difference.

I'm glad to hear a young man already looking towards the future and helping preserve this county's ideals.
If you want straight no frills infantry Go to the Corps, they'll teach you how to survive, and you'll be deep in it without a doubt, so you'll need it. Every Marine on the field of battle is a machine ran on killing power, if that's what you want look no further. Every Marine, regardless of MOS and rank, is a Rifleman at their base. When sh!t hits the fan all Marines pick up rifles and have the ability to lead to victory.

I would like to add that SOI (school of infantry) immediately after Boot Camp is way more physically demanding than Boot Camp.

The Army's great too.
By the way all the services are paid on an equal pay grade. Hence a Private in the Marine Corps makes the same as a Private in the Army all the way E-1 through E-9.

Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem.
Ronald Reagan, President of the United States; 1985

There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.
Gen. William Thornson, U.S. Army

We have two companies of Marines running rampant all over the northern half of this island, and three Army regiments pinned down in the southwestern corner, doing nothing. What the hell is going on?
Gen. John W. Vessey Jr., USA, Chairman of the the Joint Chiefs of Staff
during the assault on Grenada, 1983

The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!
Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945

and to whoever said they would put the army rangers up against marines anyday . It doesnt work like that. If your gonna pick a specific group then both have to be specific. sure army rangers could beat a radomly group of marines.. but put them up against marsoc and you got yourself a challange

First of all both branches are good. The ones claiming the Marines are probably not actually in service, except for Sgt. Red, he checks out. To the others I'll put Army Rangers up against any Marine any day of the week. It's a matter of personal choice.
"War is Hell" once quoted by General Sherman and it is. I have lost friends. I lost a very close friend in Mogadishu back in 93.

War is horrible, because it effect on alot of people, such as soldiers, families, friends, loved ones, and country itself. And is the Marines better than the Army? if you are in the Marines, the answer will be most likely be Yes, if you are in the Army, the answer will be most likely be no. The Marines have harder training then the Army and the longest boot camp out of all Armed Service, but the Army is the oldest. so is the Marines better than the Army? to me, Marine is the best out of all.

War sucks, but at least you have your brothers next to you the whole time. As for pay, they all receive the same pay. Its federally mandated on a general pay schedule. The Marines are for certain the best. they don't take s**t. I remember a friend of mine went to Haiti about 6 weeks after gradutating from SOI. The Marines were called in to replace the Army. The Marines roll their sleeves up differently than the Army, so the Haitians could distinguish the difference and would completely avoid the Marines, as the moment the Marines stepped foot off the plane they meant business and broke bones to prove it. While the Marines were there, not one M-16 was stolen in an altercation with a Marine, not one post was overrun and not one riot got out of hand. A record the Army shamefully could not attest to.

first of all there is no glory in war.a lot of suffering and grief.no one wins in the end.and as far as the marines or the army is concerned.there;s no one better then the other.we are all soldiers fighting to stay alive.we have families we want to go home to.we are the best trained military in the world.no army in the world can come face to face with an American soldier and win.that;s why they fight us from caves and holes in the ground.any other way we;d kick their *** and they know it.i;am a former marine and yes the training was hard.but to say we are better then the army i can;t say that.and neither can they.we all work togather to win a war.it does;nt matter what branch of service you;re in were all americans and that ;s what really counts.

To describe war one has to have been there.
which is the best? well naturally the Marines, they are all trained to be fighters no matter what "job" they may eventually get and they didn't have to lower their standards to get recruits as the Army has done.

and a closing note to REGGIE #25
the Army DOES NOT PAY MORE you fool, all military pay is the same, it depends upon rank not the branch.
But then again the Army spends more and all they get is less, it figures.

WhooooRahhhhh

Marines are best for the first strike - Shock Troops. Not any better than the Army for long duration.

The Army is best for long term, continuous hitting.

All things considered, they are equal.

The Marines have the lowest ASVAB scores, the lowest standards for enlistment.
