Are Exposure Meters still used in this day and age?

Searching ebay they all looked older, is there new te4chnology out there I'm unaware of in this respect? And I want a portable external (from camera) meter.

Sekonic, Wein, Shepard, JTL and Gossen offer a complete line of hand-held light meters.

An oldie but a goodie (still in great demand on ebay and commanding high prices) is the Minolta Spot Meter F. It serves as a 1 degree spot meter and a flash meter. If you don't need flash metering capability the Minolta Spot Meter M is more affordable.
