the Swiss were never a large migrant population. however many did immigrate to America. the majority of the Swiss immigrants were in north east Switzerland very close to Germany. some were even Germans as the borders were very different then. many came with large religious groups and the Swiss immigration flow was steady and peaked most likely in the late 1700's then slowed back off and became steady again. the largest port of entry for the Swiss were the Carolina's. if you have any other questions just email me.

When was there a massive Swiss immigration to America? I don't think there was one. Switzerland has enjoyed a priveleged life in Europe, and avoided much of the strife of its neighbors. Pretty sure there was not a massive influx of Swiss...

On the other hand though, if there were, they could have easliy been identified here as Germans, Italians or French, as those are the 3 major ethnicities in the Swiss Federation.

Not sure when most Swiss came to America but there's quit a few of them in the El Centro area of CA, (farmers), which is kind of an irony in that The El Centro area is below sea level as compaired to where they came from.
