Snuggle, I thank you for bringing this question to the front! It is one which needs to be understood!
As Christians, we all know that we are targets for satan and fiery darts. Many false leaders are proof of this. I understand your love and desire for your friend as I have witnessed too many people, hurt by false teachers!
My Dad, was a minister and I saw many men who proclaimed God! I also saw many who proclaimed but, had only their agenda...not God's! That is why it is imperative that we question the Spirit of God, as instructed to do!
As for prayer for this....you are really speaking about spiritual warfare! The best thing, open your heart up to God and pour out your fear for your friend! Just talk to God as though He is standing in front of you....HE IS! Ask God, for the truth to be seen by your friend, that He will open her eyes and heart, to HIS truth...not man's! Also, pray for this leader! You would not believe how much power there is in praying for our enemies and the enemies of God! He too, or she, needs to know God's truth and stop the "bad leadership."
I want you to know this...I am standing with you, in agreement that truth will surface for your friend and for the leader who needs the truth even moreso! I pray that your friends eyes will be open to only God's truth, that she seek God, without knowledge from man but, rather....knowledge which comes from the Father! That God will intervene and make right the wrongs of this leader. That this leader will come to understand his/her faults and perhaps, false teachings. God's will be done in this regard!
Praying and agreeing with you,
Gail

Pray, pray, pray! I will pray with you for this need snuggle. I don't think it is ever Gods will for us to be spiritually abused and sitting under bad leadership which can have devastating results as you well know. Rest in God about this and watch Him work, In Jesus Mighty Name.

This question really hits home to me. I was in a situation such as this. I agonized for months over what to do. I cried and prayed, then cried and prayed some more. I read my Bible searching for answers. My eyes rested on a verse in John 8:36 - "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." These words penetrated my heart, so much so that I was finally able to break free of the hold this false teaching had on me. I finally realized that Jesus came to set us free from the bondage of the law, and wants us to serve Him out of love because He loves us.
Please pray for your friend, that they find freedom in Christ to be all that He wants her to be. I will be in agreement with you in this prayer, that the chains that have her bound will be loosed in Jesus name!
Lovingly,
Virginia

Grace & Peace unto you from God & Son Unlimited.
Indeed, legalism is so harmful: spiritual abuse.
Prayer does help, but awareness makes free.
Know the truth makes you free of believe lies.
Connect these biblical dots:
- Our Father, deliver us from evil: Mt 6:13
- We are delivered from the law: Rom 7:6
See what God our Saviour will have
- all men saved(graced), AND(1Tim 2:3,4)
- all men aware what from: law
For it's "be ye reconciled (through J-->C) to God".
To wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world;
by NOT law imputing their sins unto them: 2Cor 5:19.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Go to a different congregation. Pray about it openly to God and if your heart is in the right place he will answer your prayers.
Proverbs 15:29

"Jehovah is far away from the wicked ones, but the prayer of the righteous ones he hears".
