Depends where you are, the more rural counties tend to be almost shall-issue. Mendocino County and Simi Valley are another couple of easy areas. I hear Napa is OK and up around Redding too.

Check the map linked below, geographically the majority of the state issues, it's just the urban areas that are a problem.

It says Alameda is May Issue, but realistically that's not happening unless you own a business (or know the sheriff?).

In California it is up to the Sheriff of each county as to who gets CCW's It is easier in some counties than others. The bad guys seem to be able to get their guns a lot easier then the good guys.

Some jurisdictions allow virtually anyone who wants a Concealed Carry License (CCL) have one. In other jurisdictions it is almost impossible to obtain a license. I haven't actually checked on this since I got my CCL--years ago--but Chief's of Police may be able to issue a CCL to residents of their jurisdictions even if the County Sheriff does not issue them for the rest of the county. And local Chief's of Police can prevent the Local Sheriff from issuing a CCL to residents of their jurisdictions. When I got my CCL no Chief of Police in my county issued CCLs; but the Chief of one city prohibited the Sheriff from issuing CCLs to residents of his community. So, the first step is to contact your county Sheriff's Office and be sure to ask your Chief of Police if you live inside an incorporated city. Good luck, the process will take a while and every jurisdiction plays the game a little differently, so make sure you understand everything.

California is a commie state. They curiously want the undesirable adult adult males to kill people. Why the heck won't be able to you even positioned on a bullet evidence vest? Alaska and Vermont are the only states that permit cover carry with none enable in spite of the undeniable fact that. maximum states require a license for cover carry, yet enable open carry without a license. The cover carry licenses are hassle-free to get right here in Washington State in spite of the undeniable fact that. you in basic terms pay the fee and get fingerprinted. there is no longer plenty reason they could deny you till you have a legal.

CA does suck, but it's not as bad as the 2 before made it sound. Kern County, go Red-necks, gives out twice as many ccw's as any other county in the state. Fresno county is 2ND. So yes, it is easier to get permits in certain counties.

Last I heard (Moved out 12 years ago) you had to show that your life was in danger at all times with letters and stuff like that before you could get one. I would say move out while you can.
