Denis, I think you are just getting a bit over-sensitive about the whole religious issue. Calm down, accept that everyone has their own point of view and let it all ride over you. Remember the words of Jesus to his disciples after he calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee; " be still, and know that I am God".
Relax.

I could care less what you believe, or any other person.

However, as an American citizen I am very concerned about the encroaching theocracy most christians(if not you personally) support.

For example, you may personally believe gay marriage, or even a homosexual act, is against your beliefs. Bully for you, and while I disagree I respect your opinion. But the bitter fact is that most Christians in this nation are trying to legislate their beliefs to affect how others live their lives, and that's where the rub is.

I am interested in protecting privacy and the rights of Americans, and many Christians appear hell-bent (pun not intended) on infringing on these rights because of their religious beliefs.

That is why forums like this are important, to draw the distinction between one's beliefs and how those beliefs affect others. Sometimes that means saying the emperor has no clothes in order to make a point, but in all honestly most atheists are probably here, like me, to simply stop this growing theological bent to our political system.

The second reason is that many of the folks here are young, and in all honestly generally ignorant about their religion and the bible. If we can help education them and tell them things they don't already know, it only broadens their mind, even if they remain Christians. Ignorance is bliss for the ignorant, not for everyone else.

I am sorry if we come across the wrong way! I come on here for two reasons
1 because i have seen a glimpse of the power of God and want to try to answer the questions that I know the answer to. i realize that most of the people on here who aren't Christians are pretty set in there ways, I still want to 'plant seeds' even if I never see the flower!
2 because seeing and understanding the main problems that people have with Christianity can help me be a witness to my friends and family who don't know the Lord. you know, so i am ready for whatever questions come my way
so yea... i hope that you can understand better now!
:]
that is why I go on here.

I have no anger towards someone simply because they are christian.
My anger is towards the people who believe we should be teaching our children that we came from dust or the Earth is only six thousand years old. My anger comes from the radicals who refuse to allow people to marry the person they love and spend more then 100 million dollars a year to teach our children how NOT to protect themselves from STDs and AIDS.
If you are not an ignorant bigot then I have no anger toward you. I like to think that most people aren't like this.

"The last time we left you guys go unchallenged we got the Dark Ages. I really don't want a repeat."

Strange, I thought the dark ages followed the collapse of the Roman Empire - dark because, with no central organisation to maintain records, very little information about the period has come down to us.

I believe in the Lord God and in his son Jesus.
Jesus showed us by his sacrifice the way to salvation.
This is the best news anyone could ever have so if people wish to hate or persecute a believer it is just a proof of what the word of God says.
We are told that people will be against us just as they were against Jesus himself. We are told in scripture that it was for envy that they wanted to kill him and succeeded.

We must trust God and pray for these people as Jesus tells us. We must set the example, whether others wish to follow is up to them.

Be strong and believe.

I dont think anyone believing in a religion makes me angry unless it leads them into committing acts of terrorism. I sometimes get irritated when you have to alter arrangements because someone needs to go to church when you know that it is nonsense

I am not mad, I honestly try to give practical answers, but realize everybody won't see it the way I do. Some people answer questions to mock, some to really give good counsel.

non believers have just as much right to preach their beliefs as believers have.
I have seen alot of christian answers that give the impression that the writer is smug that they will go to heaven and the non believers will suffer in hell. To me that is not a very christian attitude. Do you think your god will enjoy these peoples company

I give only humour and verifiable facts.
