Discrimination as you call it happens to everyone no matter what size they are, what they've done/are doing, sing like, drive like....it doesn't matter, people will pick on something. I've been both overweight and underweight in my lifetime and you know I still got flack from people....You have to decide to be happy within yourself because you will never please everyone. We are a world of critics although we deny it. Never mind them. Smile and be who you want to be. :)

I agree that it's wrong when people automatically label someone "anorexic" because they are thin, but other than that I disagree with everything you just said. As for the clothes, I would like to know where you shop because I have the hardest time finding extra large because they get snatched up first. All I find is small and medium. Besides, these fat people you talk about would most likely be shopping in the plus size department if your favorite store even has one. I'm sure you won't find a shirt you love there. They get a very small selection of UGLY clothes or clothes made for much older people and it's usually on 1 or 2 racks at the back of the store while the skinny people have the whole rest of the store to shop in.Also, I'm sure the overweight girls in your school buy the same length skirts as the rest of you , only if they are big the fabric will cling to the curves more and maybe get bunched up in the creases and ride up instead of it just hanging off of them like it would on someone skinny. Why would you be angry about Monique's show? Most of the people on tv are thin. If I'm not mistaken ,,"America's next top model " is a thin people show . Think about the few tv shows that portray fat characters. They are either lazy and stupid, a bully, or if they are well liked it's because they constantly are making fun of themselves. Think about all the "yo mamma" jokes, stand up comics, comedy movies ( remember the Clumps? Norbit? Big Momma's House?)and tell me fat people don't get made fun of.Fat people have been made fun of for years. At least no one is immune now! Lighten up and take what life gives you.. Everyone has advantages and disadvantages. Appreciate what you have and be happy.

Sadly people are discriminated against for being to skinny & too fat. When I was in high school people always talked about how skinny I was & referred to me being just skin & bones. I know that I was by far not the skinniest person in school but for some reason b/c I could eat just about anything & not gain weight I was constantly talked about. I eventually got to the point where I didn't pay attention to them & now I would give anything to be called skinny (LOL) Just pay them no mind --mostly they are jealous for just that -- they can't eat anything they want & not gain weight. Life changes us all so be happy for how it goes now.

In that case, I'm also a "victim." I'm naturally skinny and people tell me I need to eat more and put some more "meat on my bones."
When eating with friends I make sure not to go to the bathroom after I eat because rumors might start that I have an eating disorder.

I was very thin in high school and you are right...people are RUDE....I would never go up to a fat person and say "OH MY GOSH COULD YOU BE ANY FATTER? HOW MUCH DO YOU EAT?"
However, it was a daily thing for someone to say "WOW! YOU'RE SO SKINNY! DON'T YOU EVER EAT."
My sister was really heavy...this is a true story from church....
This woman comes up to me and says "You know, I never known if you're just skinny because or if you're sick or something? Do you have anorexia or cancer or something?"
Actually, I suffer with anorexia and yes, I'll tell you about it....
Then the same woman comes up to me and says
"You know what else doesn't make sense?? How you're so painfully thin, it is sickening to look at, and your sister is so big and fat it is gross to see." DOUBLE WHAMMY...any one else you want to insult in my family....
Mind you, I was not that thin, I ate, I just watched it, I was like 5'2" 98 pounds....
Just ignore people...they are dumb....have two kids like me, now I'd love someone to say I was too thin!

OMG i know exactly what you mean... i was slender in middleschool and i was made fun of because you know i looked more unhealthy than the fat people.. It hurts just the same when someone calls you underweight, if fat people want to claim they cant help be unhealthy and overweight they shouldnt disrespect people who are underweight and eat alot like me.. i couldnt put on weight to save my life!
People today are using this fat epidemic as a crutch (Monique and her show.. uhh) Obese is unhealthy and there is big differnce in being slightly underweight and 100+ pounds overweight.
Im sick of people today claiming that because models starve themselves everyone else who is slender is "starving" themseleves and/ or bulmic... Im so sick of peoples perception of "normal" today. This is really getting ridiculous.. i mean did anyone see the Miami Ink episode of Diedre the plus sized model and she claims shes popular.. W/e

Bette Midler used to do this bit she said -
"In New York City, there are a group of women who get up every day and put a fried egg on their foreheads, and wear them all day long. So every day, I get up and pray - Please God, don't let me get up tomorrow and want to put and egg on my forehead, and if I do, please don't let anyone notice."
The point here is, we all have some kind of egg on our forehead. Some are more noticable then others. But every single person has one thing that someone else finds annoying, unattractive or odd. And they might comment on it.
Another quote, this one from Richard Feinmann, a certified Nuclear genius "What do you care what other people think?" Let them have their opinions. When they ask if your anorexic say "Nope, I'm one of those lucky people who can eat anything I want!" Be who you are, and don't let other people affect what you think about yourself.
Wear your egg proudly!

I know how you feel! People say to me, "Do you even eat??" But I have to admit, overweight people have an uglier time with weight discrimination.

I'd call it rude or presumptuous, but not discriminatory. Being underweight is very easy to hide, so if this is really a big issue for you, you can change how you dress.
People can be pretty insensitive, but I wouldn't let it get to you.

I think that our culture in general has mixed-up ideas about body image and health, and you are another victim. Live to be healthy and don't pay attention to people who don't know what they are talking about.
