its not really religions.
its more of personality traits.
like stubborn, and not so stubborn. two stubborn people would never be able to stand eachother!
opposites attract because its the differences in a relationship that make it exciting.

as for the christians to athiests example: one has something the other doesnt, and visa versa. thats the case in most other instances. my boyfriend is one of the craziest guys in the world!! i like to have fun, but i know where my "crazy limit" is. He's always pushing that limit, and it's made me try new things!!

Opposites attract because "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence". It interests us and catches our attention.Makes us think about other ways of thinking or doing outside of our own little worlds..

I think it is to create balance in life. You can't have the good without the bad. Yin Yang Positive negative, that sort of thing.

Actually that is not quite accurate.
Tall people usually go for tall people, short ones for short ones, highly-educated ones to like ones, those with a wealthy background to others of wealthy background and vice-versa, members of same race, etc.......

because opposite genes are likely to be good candidates for a good baby. no inbreeding, good immune system etc

Imagine the whole world in one color, that would of suck right?
Same thing with people getting opposite attracted.
