it has little to do with what Christ actually taught...

Christianity was originally considered a Jewish sect, but the Jews really didn't identify with them, so calling it a Jewish heresy is not off the mark.

Considering that the Church which Catholicism and Orthodoxy sprang from loudly and sometimes violently rejected Gnosticism, I fail to see how you make that connection.

To some Jews, it is a Jewish heresy. To some Catholics, it is against their beliefs ( I have met some so persuaded! ) , but to my Lord, I am merely doing what He would have me do.

Christianity is simply being christ like. Having the mind of God, living in the spirit and not just fulfilling the desires of self.
