So my question is after you accept Christ and become saved is it okay to continue to get tattooed? I am looking for opinions but also be able to back it up scripturally

A couple of things first I am not thinking of getting one I just was looking for opinions but I do have 4. Also to answer those who have said your body is a temple respect it and that whole argument do you ever over eat or drink caffeine two things that are bad for your body. We are called to glorify God with our body and if my Tattoos are used for his glorification or the furthering of Christs Kingdom that I am all for them

It says in Rev. that Jesus comes down riding a white horse and upon His thigh it says King of Kings and Lord of Lords. How did it get there? Magic marker. Temporary tattoo? I forget the actually chapter and verse but will look it up for you after church. I have to get off here and fix dinner for the lil turds.
Ok I found it although the decent version is with the hubby in his truck. I have the teaching version for the kids. It is Rev 6:2. Or close to that area. The only word to describe what is on the Lord's thigh when comes riding the white horse is a tattoo. I realize that it is not that but it is the only earthly word good enough to describe it. He has a marking on his spiritual body so one can only assume that since a tattoo is only a marking on our physical bodies that it is not that bad.

Corinthians 6:19-20 does not directly apply to tattoos, but it does give us a principle, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." This great truth should have a real bearing on what we do and where we go with our bodies. If our bodies belong to God, we should make sure we have His clear "permission" before we "mark it up" with tattoos or body piercings.

the only scripture that I know of is in the old testiment.
I think it is a matter of your relationship to Christ, to please him or not. On the basis of that, make your decision.
Paul was all things to all people that he might reach them for Christ, but i'm not sure how he would deal with permenant skin markings as that would surely stand out against the jewish law that he was most familiar with
we are not under such directives as Christians so I would ask you to test it on the issues paul points out, is it in your best interest. if you need the reference for that, i will give it, but you should be familiar with that in his writing

Tattoos have been around a LOT longer than Christianity. I would imagine that God's a bit more worried about your actions in life than in a bad drawing of a dagger and heart on your arm or a fake tribal scribble on your back.

The bible does not address the issue of tattoos on a persons body. Go for it if you wish.
The only thing that will matter to God in the end is if you believed and accepted with your heart what his son Jesus did for you on the cross. That's what the bible says.

God has made you in His image, why would you want to go and mess up something so precious (you)? Your body is a temple and you should care for it as such.

do you really think God is going to condemn you to hell for having a tattoo? not everything in the Bible is meant to be taken so literally. and for all you holier than thou people.. it is no different then getting your ears pierced.
