Last Sunday, our Associate Pastor (Baptist) announced from the pulpit that he had run out of answers for skeptics and could no longer scientifically and historically defend the Bible.

He said that he loved us all, but (like Mother Theresa in her recent journal) has come to the inevitable conclusion that Jesus Christ never really existed, but was a fabrication.

He used to get our youth groups to be able to debate skeptics using Tektonics and AnswersinGenesis, but in his deep and scholarly studies he says that he has finally seen the truth for what it is and that he is now going to work for http://www.pandasthumb.org/ as a researcher!

He has his doctorate and can read Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek - he also has studied many original Bible manuscripts and has found that Christianity is a lie!

The congregation is in shock and he said that new technology will reveal the truth about Christianity within the next couple of years!

Where do we go when Christianity topples?

A pastor friend of mine left his faith after many years of service. He became an atheist and was bitter at all the years he spent in service to God. It was sad, because of the bitterness. I think it comes from years of rejecting the facts, rather than embracing them and being flexible in your faith. Being a Biblical literalist, and fundamentalist and an intelligent, educated person puts a strain on you mind. It is called cognitive dissonance. Your mind cannot hold to conflicting thoughts at once for too long. One always wins out. I think if he'd not have been a minister he could have admitted his doubts, dealt with them earlier and kept some peace of mind along with his faith. Or he could have been a contented atheist. Either way would have been better. My advice is to be there for your ex-pastor. He needs a friend right now. He's doing what is right for him, but that need not shake your faith. ...And if it does, let it shake a little. Don't panic. At the end of the day, faith is not based on fact.
Christianity is not toppling. It is evolving as it always has. It has been 2,000 years and some of Jesus's suggestions are still radical.
Love my what now?
Who's gonna inherit the earth?
I do not think you've sung your swan song yet. I just think the religion is catching up to its founder.

i do no longer bypass to Church to love of dislike my Pastor, i bypass there to wish to God, & for others. The Pastor is only a representative of God. Pastors are actually not ideal, some have egos, and a few are ill interior the top, others are politicians, others are stable, straight forward straight forward followers of Gods teachings. Many Chuch goers are what i think of (silly) to go away the Church, and bypass to different church homes, or p.c. to no longer bypass at keen approximately in spite of motives they p.c.. Many only seem for motives to no longer bypass to Church, and could use in spite of conceivable excuses. a individual i understand won't bypass to Church because of the fact She would not opt to be "instructed" how lots to furnish for "tithe". yet, She says She is as on the brink of God as all of us else, even with being an alcoholic, She believes She is doing the perfect component. What fools those mortals be.............

OMG!

This exact same thing happened in our town - at a Baptist church, and I heard a friend of mine in college say that his youth pastor quit because he didn't think Jesus was real!

Mother Theresa also wondered if Jesus was a real person or not!?!

If that guy actually exists it seems he's simply a seed which feel on rocky ground. (http://www.bcbsr.com/survey/pbl5.html)

I'm a ministering Christian - an evolutionary creationist at that. I also work at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. I've investigated quite deeply issues of science and faith and find nothing which topples my faith.

A couple of pages you might find of interest I've written.

What Church is this. I'd like to read more about him. Your district should have a record of this.

And, more importantly, why do your other questions seem to be of someone who is not a Baptist or a Christian? Also, in your answers you say you don't celebrate Christmas or believe in marriage?

I don't care what science says, i'd be nothing but a fool to look at the wonderful creations ( the tress, the air, the sky, the water) and say there is no God....but to get to your question, what can you do?, that's HIS decision, HIS choice, just continue to believe..
