I have a 10-year-old Toshiba 35" tube television. Whenever I turn it on, I only get a silver/bright white line that runs horizontally in the middle of the tube. This is the only thing that I currently see whenever I turn it on. Previously, it would work fine for a few days and then out of nowhere, the silver line would appear and all tv watching would cease. Now that is all that I get.

Is this a simple fix, or would it be less expensive to purchase a new one.

Thanks and take care!

I'm assuming the sound is ok? Sounds like you have problems in the vertical output circuit. If you're lucky, you only have a bad connection on the o/p ic chip (just requires resoldering the printed circuit board), or the chip may have blown. There are other things around the vertical circuit that can cause this but this is the most common problem.
