Its only 1 day...how much can it possibly do?????...seriously come on you cant live the rest of your life like this so be realistic...trust me it wont do anything...look at it this way..if you ate like a pig everyday and went on a diet one day a week you think you would be skinny?...LOL...doubt it so why would eating alot 1 day make you get fat???...your being to hard on yourself.

LOL i wasnt being mean to you...i was saying your being to hard on yourself...good luck making a low fat thanksgiving cos its nearly impossible ...unless you just buy a turkey breast and eat a baked potatoe and vegs...i eat a real strict diet to..but i would no way in hell even think about tryn to eat healthy on thanksgiving LOL...and im far from obese im 116 pounds...you dont have to starve everyday of your life to be thin...and if you do let it go...cos your body just is ment to be bigger..gurly...happy thanksgiving...i hope you find your healthy thanksgiving...and another thing the only reason you see and hear bout people getn fat over the holidays ...is cos they non stop eat...all through the season...they dont just pig out on thanksgiving day and christmas day...its cold so they eat all winter long...plus there is no pressure to get into summer clothes so alot of people dont mind putting on a few pounds ...but i know how to control myself..and it sounds like you do to...so i was just tryn to make you feel better bout eating on thanksgiving and feeling worry free...you really can have a normal thanksgiving...and christmas day as well without fear of getting fat...2 days out of the whole year.

Stay away from the gravy. It's 100% fat, and not good fat either. Theoretically, veggies should be safe. However, some people, like my mother-in-law only cooks them in margarine. She once asked me how I cooked my veggies if not in margarine. I told her I steam them. Since I realized how she does them, I do not eat them.

I also stay away from the cranberry sauce (the canned stuff is basically gelatin, I think) and the stuffing, as I don't know if it's meatless or cooked with chicken broth or not. If I have pumpkin pie, I skip the Cool Whip; it's nothing but corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils. (I don't understand how Cool Whip lite has hydrogenated oil in it but supposedly only has less than one gram of trans fat.) Pure junk.

I don't deprive myself. I eat what I want within moderation. This year, my husband and I will be doing some of the cooking and my sister will be doing the rest. She knows my food choices and will plan accordingly. It's no skin off her nose if she doesn't use chicken broth (water works and is free).

You could always do a search for "lite thanksgiving", "low fat thanksgiving", "fat free thanksgiving", etc.

Just make light alterations to your recipes. Substitute 'Splenda' for sugar, fat-free milk for whole milk, reduced fat vs regular, egg whites for whole eggs, etc.

And use smaller plates. Don't take seconds. Eat some salad or fruit about a half hour before your meal, it'll control your hunger and you won't overdo it.

But that's okay if you overdo it a little bit, we all need to live a little. Just don't make a habit of it, and you'll be good (: Happy holidays!

Oh for goodness sake it is thanksgiving. Do not eat the pie do not eat the gravy do not touch the potatos and do not eat anything sweet leave pop and alchol alone now be sure to enjoy yourself. But do not touch the bread or rolls. I am so sick of year after year that we have to watch others enjoy what we can not have...... Sorry but I have had it...... lost 130 pounds and proud but still deprived....... hugs to those that can resist.....

Eat whatever you want, one day isnt going to affect your weight that much, just add a little more time to your exercise plan.=)
