Growing up, my family never went to Disney. We couldn't afford it. I'll probably take my kids there, just to see what it's like. But, I can't get over some people who go there every year. Is it really that good?

What are your opinions on Disney?

Miss Lovely, that's what I mean. You say, yes......it's overrated. But, you still love it and there is magic surronding it. In your opinion, it doesn't sound overrated.

Are you kidding? I love Disney. Granted good things usually don't come cheap and Disney is no exception.

As a SoCal girl, I have a fondness for the mouse ears. We went every two-four years as a kid. It's all about the marketing - the magical atmosphere, the environment, the way the themes and feeling and fantasy permeate everything in the park, even the trash. I don't care how overrated it may be, I love Disney. I'd rather go to Disneyland than Knott's, and I'd rather be poked in the eye than go to Magic Mountain.

My 8 year old has been probably 20 times (we had a pass one year), and has never tired of it. You can't do everything in one day anyway. It's fun to explore new things each time. Her first time was age 2, her last time was 2 years ago for an awesome Halloween night in CA Adventures, and shh.... she's going again this December, for Christmas.

Disneyland can help you embrace your inner child, if you let it!

I really wanted to respond as a huge Disney Fan! I went 3 x as a child and now have gone 3x as an adult. We have 5 kids 15 down to 3. We all love it!!! We could and are trying to go every year. My husband used to be a "whats the big deal, its just a theme park" type of guy until he actually went!. At Disney everything is just well done. It is immaculate, the service is usually great and in short, there is some magic feeling. One year my eight year old was chosen randomly out the crowd by a cast member before a parade in the eve. The cast member sat with her talking and when the time came sprinkled some "pixie dust" in her hands. She told her to hang on for just the right moment and suddenly told her to "blow the pixie dust " At that precise moment every light in the street went out for the parade and the music started. It gave me chills. My daughter will never forget that. My kids have ridden in front of the monorail, driven the jungle cruise boat and felt personally special when a character waves to them or pats their head during a parade. (the parades are awesomme by the way). The shows are nothing short of spectacular (fantasmic, wishes). One person told me she cried after fantasmic and I kind of giggled and rolled my eyes but it is SO TRUE. The experience is not one to be missed in my opinion. The princesses are not just girls in costumes, but act like true princesses, down to their voices and mannerisms. My boys 15 and 12 love all of it too.

That being said, it is very expensive and we are not wealthy. We stay off site for about $80/week with a full kitchen. (10 min from Disney) but then do need a car rental. Airfare is about $1500. We grocery shop at walmart and try to pack snacks and sandwiches (all yummy stuff though so it still feels special). We take a stroller to avoid extra cost.

Good luck whatever you decide. I just wanted to hear a point of view from someone who has had great experiences.

I live in Florida and go to Disney - and I'm not in any way exaggerating - at LEAST four times a year.
No, it's not the land of magic. No, you won't ever leave feeling like your life has changed. And yes, it's stressful.
You have to go into Disney, with all its crowds and insanity and crazy tourists with the right mindset to have a good time. Relax, have fun, don't stress that the parade is at 3:00 and the line for lunch is out the door. It's all about spending time together with your family, about running around and buying balloons from a guy in mickey ears, about riding Space Mountain eighteen times and not getting sick. It's about eating turkey legs as long as your three-year-old is tall, and about laying down in the grass beside the castle and watching the fireworks.
No, Disney is not all it's cracked up to be.
But it's a special place where you don't have to worry about your boss or your other problems. It's a place where you can just HAVE FUN.
After all, nobody does it like Disney. They're just so good at what they do - it's worth going just to see the beautiful scenery and the fantastic light-shows. (if you do end up going, I reccommend Fantasmic! at MGM Studios!)

Yes, it's a very fun place. I've been there a few times! My kids love it(ages 10 and 14). It's so big that you cannot go through it all in one day! The parade's really cool. When the fireworks go off(they do them ever night, as well as the parade) they play disney songs(if you wish upon a star, ect.). Kids love it when they see their favorite character. My son likes goofy alot and thinks he's just a cool and strange so when we saw him we got a few pictures of my son with goofy.
Although it was really funny, my husband and son said they saw cinderella smoking.
But i'm actualy thinking about taking my kids to Tokyo and then take them to Tokyo Disney Land(they want to go on new years because the characters wear kimonos).
So yea, it's not really overrated.

Yes, it's very overrated. All of those commercials that run saying Disney is the most magical place on earth is just bull. Good marketing, but untrue. It's just a themepark... I've been there when I was 4, and that's the only time. I never go there, and I don't really want. It's not that special as everyone seems to make it.

I don't think it's overrated. It's a fun place to go. I took my 8 year old last year and it literally made me tear up to see the Disney Castle. I know, I know, I might sound like a big baby, but it really was everything I had expected as a child.

I actually loved going to Disney (CA and FL), but as an adult, I couldn't see going back there year after year. I can certainly understand why the kids would want to however.

Is it overrated? No. I don't think so. I think it's very high quality entertainment that works for all ages. There probably aren't ANY amusement parks that could equal that.

I went there a few years ago in my early 20's... I had a blast. I think I'd wanted to go all my life and I finally got a chance to go so I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm also like a big kid too so seeing the characters and parades were fun for me too. It was a bit on the expensive side though. The fire works at Magic Kingdom were the best I've ever seen. So if you go... you gotta see the fireworks!!!!!!!!

I guess it depends on which one you go to. I never did the Disney thing as a child either, so my first time going was as an adult, and it was Disney Land in LA. And I have to tell you, I wasn't super pumped about it - although I did enjoy the Mulan parade (I ended up having more fun at Universal Studios). But friends have told me that Disney World in Orlando is much better anyways.
