Husband tried to ban Harry Potter movies after he found out that some adults have actually established a Hogwart's school. I finally convinced him that our children were smart enough to know the difference between truth and fiction. I let my kids read the book and if they finish with the book then they get to watch the new movie. Anything that gets them reading is a good thing!

Catholics don't hate Harry Potter as a group. Only fanatics hate Harry Potter; and there are far more Protestant Harry Potter haters than Catholic, I can assure you.

Feb 3, 2003 | The Vatican is giving two thumbs up to the Harry Potter series.
The good vs. evil plot lines of the best-selling books are imbued with Christian morals, the Rev. Don Peter Fleetwood told a Vatican news conference Monday.

The Pope does not like that the main character is a wizard. The series is about whichcraft and he does not condone the books.
However many Catholics are free to decide for themselves. Not every Catholic (or person of any religion) follows the Bible and the Pope’s word to a T.

Catholics do not hate Harry Potter--at least, this Catholic doesn't. Voldemort, now, he's an entirely different matter. (g)

That is stereotyping. Just because most of the catholic hate Harry Potter, it doesn't mean everyone does.
And you don't need to be embarrassed about it. Everyone has his/her own opinions and respect yourself and your peers enough to not be embarrassed about their opinions.
Good Luck!

I can see why the church would have a problem with the Potter books and not for the reasons they say.
Potter got kids reading again. Reading and thinking.
Now, the last thing the church wants or needs is a literate base.
"Witchcraft"..LOL
How can you not believe in evolution?
We can clearly see those among us who are a little lower on the ladder .
Missing link? The missing link consists of lower forms of humanity that are still frightened of the big bad man in the sky.

I didn't know "Catholics" hate it. Do you mean The Catholic Church? Because my whole family is Catholic (not me, but the rest of them) and they love the books.
