NEVER PUNISH A CHILD IF YOU ARE MAD!!!!! Wait until you calm down before you punish, and remember to be patient. You want to break their will not their spirit. If they are younger, then just spank on the bottom and let that be it. They really are too young to listen to lectures until about age 5-6. The child is probably also trying to communicate somehow with you. Most children get angry because they need to tell you something but don't honestly know how. If your child is young, then I also suggest sign language. It can be so helpful for a 1-2 year old and younger to really talk to you.

since the child is only 10 and is angry this calls for some heavy duty loving even though you may feel like doing some heavy duty swatting, believe me hugging and kissing and giving piggy back rides and tickling is better than spanking, some situations call for a good spank but anger can be battled down with love, after you pass thru the anger find out why they are angry

You don't say how old.
But usually, tantrums should be ignored. Leave the room. Go on with your work. A tantrum usually needs attention to keep it going. [If you leave the room, the child may stop the tantrum long enough to follow you before starting it up again!]
In cases when this doesn't work, cold water on the head and face usually restores control. This can be anything from a cold wet washcloth to a spray bottle of water in the face to a cup of cold water poured on the head, depending on the severity of the tantrum.

Is your child angry or is the child iritated? Then you maybe looking at your child being depressed because unfortunately they're not as intuned with how they feel as a person who is has a sense of feeling sad instead it may manifest in irritability.

This depends on the age of a child - if in the toddler stage, a good spanking works well. If in the pre-teen age, another good spanking also works well. If your child is in the teen age years and beyond, you should seriously consider taking him / her to a psychiatrist for medical help.

Depends on how old they are, the older the more discipline! For my 2 year old I splash water in his face so he can cool down.
