He's both. He is actually the Word of God, who spoke and created the world. He was the heavenly being who is God, though simply saying that God is one - well, it's more complex than that, though that is also true.
As the Philippian letter explains, he emptied Himself, and became Jesus of Nazareth, prophesied from before.
Here is one prophecy:
Isaiah 9
1 Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan-
( Nazareth is in the district of Galilee )
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
A child called Mighty God. And also Everlasting Father. What child may be called that? Jesus who is the Son of God, but also the one who can claim that 'God is one.'
It's hard to understand, I know. But God is able to do the impossible. Like being raised from the dead.
Here is what I referenced in Philippians:
Philippians 2
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
This is why he did it:
Hebrews 7
24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.
He had it planned all along!

Both. Let me explain. As I am sure you are aware, Christians believe that God Is a Trinity: Father, Son(Jesus), & Holy Spirit. There is not 3 gods. There Is Only 1 God. But, there are 3 Persons Who co-Exist in the 1 Godhead. Jesus Is the Son Of the Father. Therefore, He Is Called the Son Of God, because the Father Is the First Person Of the Trinity.

John 8:54-55 Yeshua answered, "If I praise myself, my praise counts for nothing. The One who is praising me is my Father, the very one about whom you keep saying, "He is our God." Now you have not known him, but I do know him; indeed, if I were to say that I dont know him, I would be a liar like you! But I do know him, and I obey his word.
John 14:6-7 Yeshua said, "I AM the Way ---and the truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me. Because you have known me, you will also know my Father; from now on you do know him --- in fact, you have seen him.
Im gonna say he is the son of God. Im Messianic Jewish by the way.
EDIT:Matt 28:19 saysTherefore, go an make people from all nations into talmidim, immersing then into the reality of the Father, the Son and the Ruach HaKodesh
John 5:7 says The sick man answered, "I have no one to put me in the pool when the water is disturbed; and while Im trying to get there, someone goes in ahead of me."
John 1:1 says In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:3 says All things came to be through him, and without him nothing made had being.
Not of that proves anything or answers the question.

Because Jesus is the Son of God . If He is from God and the Word was God from the beginning and only God existed before time began that too me proves Jesus is God

The Trinity is the triple-think word play of the Catholic/Christian churches. How can a human being be God, except in the sense that the entire creation is part of God. I do believe that there has to be an infinitely intelligent Creator, as everything has a cause, but I don't believe in religion. I do believe in aliens, however: there is too much evidence to ignore.

Jesus is the Son of God. When Jesus was on the earth, he atoned for our sins. When he was praying in the garden of Gethsemane, who was he praying to? God, the eternal Father, not himself!
God the Father is the Supreme Being in whom we believe and whom we worship. He is the ultimate Creator, Ruler, and Preserver of all things. He is perfect, has all power, and knows all things.
Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God the Father in the flesh. He was the Creator, He is our Savior, and He will be our Judge. Under the direction of our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ created the earth. Through His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and by giving His life on the cross—that is, by performing the Atonement—Jesus Christ saves us from our sins as we follow Him. Through His Resurrection, Jesus Christ saves us from physical death. Because He overcame death, we will all be given the gift of resurrection.

He is God, the Son, not to be confused with God, the Father or God, the Holy Spirit.
