Of course not. He's the president, they're not, no matter how much that fact might piss them off. He's going by the information provided to him by his chain of military commanders and the progress reports they constantly send him and brief him on. Despite what self-serving Democrats or media pundits try to tell you, the President knows a hell of a lot more about what's going on there and what's at stake than you do.

Ha, typical. Not only do you fail to understand why George Bush is withdrawing troops from Iraq, but you automatically assume it is a bad thing and pin the blame on the nearest scapegoat.

no they didnt, but since there as been a decrease in violence in some areas he is withdrawing some of the 30,000 he sent earlier this year. some might say its a step for withdrawl, i see it as bush using it to get more money, the house wont give him money for the wars in iraq or afghanistan unless he starts withdrawing some troops. whether or not his plan works we will have to wait and see.

The surge is drawing down because it was only supposed to be temporary, hence the term surge. We are not withdrawing from Iraq.

Well, the 'surge' is running it's course, so there will be a corresponding reduction in troops back to pre-surge levels, right?

And, just as the surge took some time to 'work,' it will take some time for things to get back to the level of disaster they were at pre-surge.

Yes, the pressure from citizens of both parties should have made him do it. However, the number is not being reduced much past pre-surge numbers, so the reduction is negligible.
