I work for a top 3 pizza chain. I have this job so that I can be home with my baby and work on school during the day. Lately though it seems like no one is tipping anymore! I make $5.25 per hour, which is under my states minimum wage. I am also compensated with .35 per delivery. This is supposed to cover gas, and ALL the maintenance to my personal vehicle. It is very frustrating to work a job that is all about tips, and not be receiving any. I am very polite, I smile and say please and thank-you and I think I treat people courteously. Really even when I am angry about not getting a tip the worst thing I do is not say " Have a nice evening" .
Tips are supposed to be gratitude for the fact that the person bringing you dinner to you is the one spending time out in the cold and other elements and not you. So if you don't tip I am asking why? What would you want if you had my job?Oh by the way at least at my company we are not allowed to take extra condiments with us so no excuse there

Sorry to say it's a trend in the population to be that way, that is, no consideration for your fellow man. And that trend seems to worsen with each new generation. Also sorry to say that. Pretty sad situation.

I tip the Domino's guy, but there is no delivery fee. OK, so you want some guidelines. How fast you want that pizza delivered after you order it? You want to be first on their list or last? I generally tip two or three dollars. Pizza takes 20 minutes to cook, and I get it within half an hour. Hey, bad weather, I tip $5. Guy on the phone goes "It will take an hour to get there", I go, yo, is Paul working there tonight. Guy goes yeah. "Tell him Dio just ordered a pizza" And I get the pizza in 30 minutes. And Paul gets his 5 bucks. All depends on how you look at it you know...

You have a job that lets you spend time with your kid and school. There aren't too many jobs that let you do that - pizza delivery is one. Why did you have a kid? If you didn't have the kid you could take a job that pays far more and not have to be dependent on tips.

You made the life choices you've got now. You could have chosen not to have the kid but you did. You could choose to stick your kid in daycare and get a job that pays far more than what you make now, but you won't do that.

You made your choices, so stop whining.

I normally tip the driver. However, I have found that many of the pizza chains have added a "delivery fee" which they have told me covers the costs of the delivery - including the driver for the use of their car. Perhaps based on your experience, this isn't true, but when I order from a firm that tells me this, I usually reduce the amount I tip.

I don't tip when the company charges a delivery fee. They are charging me for a service, and I pay them. If the company didn't charge me $1.50 or $2.00 for delivery, I would give that as a tip.

Driver's here for Domino's in Arizona make $10/hour.

Do you notice if it's young kids that stiff you or old folks?

I tip when I get delivery. Heck, you brought the food to my door.

I am astonished that people are so dang cheap that they don't tip. If it were young kids, I would think they're keeping the tips for themselves. For older adults??? Paying off a sub-prime mortgage?

Because we are charged for you to deliver it to us. I am not going to be both charged and then tip for the same service. I am sorry, but paying twice for the same thing is senseless to me. Maybe you should ask your manager why we are charged to have a pizza delivered, and explain that their charge is affecting your tips.

i think that it is because people are cheap. also alot of people who order pizzas are like teens who just gather barley enough money to pay for the pizza because they are too lazy to cook... let alone tip. my advice? you honestly should look for a better job because your situation most likley will not improve.. maybe even get worse
