I am 18 years old and I was living in my house with my parents with my drug addict brother. He was stealing my belongings and it was driving me crazy. I lost many valuables because of him and I NEED to get out of my house. I only have a part time job due to being a full time student, so I applied for subsidized housing. I am on a waiting list, but it feels like I'm NEVER going to be called. Can you please pray for me to get an apartment, thank you and god bless.

I had a heroin addict explain what her addiction was like. Picture the last piece of chocolate cake sitting on the table and you are determined not to eat it. All you can think about is that yummy piece of cake so you put it in the cupboard so you cannot see it. You think of it even more sitting in the cupboard. Then you decide it won't hurt just to stick your finger in the frosting, so you do...next thing you know you have eaten the whole piece. Appetite is a very strong addiction to "overcome". The first temptation of man was the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Then there were the people that got bored eating manna so God sent them birds to eat. They ate so much that they had the food coming out their noses. The first temptation of Jesus was appetite. In scripture it speaks of alcohol addiction and gluttony on the same line. The Bible tells us that they that will be saved will be "Overcomers". Overcomers of what? Ourselves. I am telling you this because your brother needs some heavy-duty praying on his behalf. He is damaging himself and everyone around him. So sad isn't it.
Housing can take a very long time so may I suggest you look for shared housing in the paper. Roommate wanted and hopefully they will be serious about life and be a good roommate for you. Also, the Bible tells us to not let the sun go down on our wrath. We are to deal with problems day by day and not stuff them. Have you spoken to your brother in a loving way about his problem and asked him what you could do to help him be an overcomer? There does come a time when we are supposed to shake the dust off from our feet and move on. Perhaps this is where you are in your relationship with him.
Father we lift up this family in prayer. Their needs are many. Put a hedge of protection around TD and give hiim the courage to deal effectively with his brother. Open doors for this young person Father as he has come to you for help. He knows you are the source of peace, love, joy and wisdom. Help him to not become discouraged but to look up and rejoice in you no matter what may come his way. You are the one who can move the mountains...please move the mountains regarding housing for this young person. Thank you Father for answered prayer.

You got it! Just stay in school and don't worry about anything. Philippians 4:6 says: "Do not worry about anything; instead Pray about everything". 4:13 says: "I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me."
Who knows, maybe there is a person out there looking for a room mate & the rent is really cheap. Also, sometimes there are people willing to take college students in.
Every day is a new one and each day is more strength to carry on. I will also pray for your brother to be delivered of his drug addiction.
