I plan to get a pigeon to hand raise at some point(hopfully a female) but I'm kind of curious. I know when she gets older she'll start learning how to fly. I have read about pigeons that were hand raised learn to fly on their own.

But I still wonder if when I get mine if she'll figure it out herself. Not sure.

What do ya think?

(no jokes or ridiculous answers please)

She will definately figure it out for herself. You dont need to do anything exept for provide her space to fly. Pigeon parents dont teach their babies to fly, it comes naturally to all birds. Of course, their first time flying is kind of shaky, and usually ends with a crash landing, but they catch on pretty quick.

Yes, she will figure it out on her own.
But if you are hand raising her, I'm sure you will want to help. When she is able to perch on your hand, you'll be waving her up and down a little to get her to flap her wings. Once she's competent to flutter gently to the ground, you'll be tossing her gently into the air to see how far she'll go. You'll have fun.
