Ghillie suit???

Question

Can all ghillie suit cange some of the blending in stuff and put some more stuff in them like the tactical concealment mamba or any of those? also is there any god cheap ghillie suits out their and is it legal to hunt with a gun in them in oklahoma

It's O.K. we can usually decipher stuff.
If you want to wear a ghillie suit to hunt in I guess you can do it, But remember if you are hunting during deer gun season you Must wear 500 square inches of Orange as a safety vest and an orange Hat...Pretty much thwarts the idea of the Ghillie suit...Or the deer might think your Cousin It.
As far as using it for bow hunting, how are you going to untangle yourself from the bow string after you let loose?

Ghillie suits are available at US CAVALRY online, or you can order them from Shotgun News, just pick up a copy at barnes and noble. But, remember that some states require you to wear hunter orange during rifle season, other states do not. Check with fish and game for your state. You can use them for archery season, but I found that the suits actually get in the way of a proper draw, and end up getting in the way and fouling up a clean release of the arrow. I make my own Ghillie suits out of old burlap sacks, I just hang em over the back fence and let the fade with the summer sun, then cut them into strips 1-2" wide, and as long as the sack. Then I simply lightly spary them at random with flat paint in earthtone colors that match my area of hunting, and re hang them in the sun for another week. Then take any camo long sleve button up shirt and camo pants ( I buy surplus BDU's at the surplus store) and spend an evening sewing the burlap strips onto the camo's. I kind of shred some of the burlap a little after I get it sewn on. Then, when you use it, gather some local flora ( that's fancy talk for brush or plants) and weave them into the burlap, put it on and you have your own Ghillie suit. I use mine for off season varmint hunting mostly, but have used them in a treestand during bear season as well.

As a a side thought - you might consider how much brush you will be around when wearing a ghilly. From personal experience, they catch every bit of the woods and you end up looking like a walking forrest. I sat in a treestand once while wearing one and I had a squirrel sitting about three feet from me trying to figure out why the bush was wearing boots, so the camo works sure, so long as you don't mind catching every briar and stick you come near.

ouch, you'll need more then one then, because the difference is too great in my opinion, unless your shooting from the edge of the field, then you can keep the forest one, but going from a yellow field to a dark forest and back is a huge difference, unless you want to look like a hay bale in a dark forest or look like a tree in a field lol. just use a form of compact ghillie suit and hide one as you use the other, hide it under the ghillie using then and you'll be fine.

Ghillies are OK during turkey season or bow season, But most states require 20 Square inches of blaze orange during rifle season for big game. Check your regs before you don a Ghilly. I use one for spring turkey season. But won't be caught "Dead" in one during fall deer rifle season.

I use 2 ghillie suits which I made, one is green and one is white, I use the green the most, and for bow hunting deer and for hunting, stalking coyotes.... So yes people use them to hunt, O so do Snipers and what they do is still technically speaking "hunting"

The problem with hunting in a ghillie suit is that you look like something that needs to be shot!
Remember, their are "hunters" out there that use an entire 20 round box of rifle ammo every time they go out, and don't bring home one kill.

Let me ask you something, out of all the adults you know that hunt, how many of them wear a ghillie suit? None? I thought so, so why do you want to wear one? Think it's cool, makes you look scarey? I'll let you in on a little secret, it makes you look like a jackass, and the other hunters are laughing at you.
