i didn't ask for why you do or don't spank. i just asked for the above statement. only 1 of you (a non-spanker) has done that. i also didn't ask for a paragraph explaning your choice so people wouldn't thumbs down you.

Can't answer that question this way. I will say everything I do for my children I do because I love them. BTW I don't spank - but that doesn't mean I fault those who do, my neighbor does, and he doesn't love his daughter any less. Different strokes for different folks.

I WILL Spank
.....b/c I teach in the inner city. I see little kids (5 years old) w/ NO discipline. Sad to say, but a good spanking from their parents might teach them to behave and stay out of trouble. Some of these kids are headed for gangs and it's already apparent at a young age. As a teacher, I give time outs, take away recess, etc. But, some of these kids don't care. They have NO understanding of a consequence.
A good spanking gets the message across EVERY time. A spanking hurts and it's not something that can be reversed. You can take away toys and say no TV, but eventually the punishment with end. With a spanking, that's it......you got spanked-Deal with it!

I will spank my children as a last resort if no other form of correction is working because I love them and want them to grow up realizing that there are consequences for actions and if we're lucky the consequences are as minor as a hand to the tushie.
