El Asar? Oh, my bad, you mean the Christian version of the dead dude coming out of the cave mythology. Yeah, he was a zombie.

Edit: If you think that's kooky, you should check out the original story from which the "Lazarus" story was plagiarized. He's actually a mummy that was raised from the dead.

No. Zombie's don't have the spirit of the Lord calling them from the pit of death.

I love the part where Jesus specifically calls Lazarus by name, for if he would have said "come forth" everyone would have.

I did go to an interesting teaching on Lazarus. He would have been mummified, and covered with bandages. His brain would have been in a bottle, his heart and tongue as well.
When Christ renewed him, he gave him the mind of Christ, the heart of love, and the anointed words to speak it.

Amazing, to me.
I know you probably weren't looking for all that, but Lazarus is one of my favorite people in the bible. I can only imagine what his testimony would have been.

I don't think so. Zombies were alive, then were dead, and now are in a new classification of "undead." If you believe the Bible then Lazarus was alive, then dead, the alive again. Zombies aren't mortal in the way men were, and I'm assuming Lazarus would have just died later on in life like everyone else.

Well, according to wikipedia, a zombie is a "reanimated corpse devoid of consciousness"

The scriptures aren't clear as to what Lazarus did after he was raised from the dead, but I believe it's safe to assume that he was no longer a corpse and did have a consciousness. So no, I don't think he was a zombie.

What a surprise...somehow the christians have a "reason" why logic and reason don't have any place in their great history. Was Lazarus a zombie? Absolutely!

I love Zombies!

Of course not. Lazarus was dead and Jesus brought him back to full mortal life status. There was no "zombie" qualities about him. He wasn't resurrected, or brought to immortal status, merely restored to mortal status. He would still die again.
