I have to paint an ornament of a horse in the style of any relatively famous artist. I don't want the artist's style to be too difficult to mimic or too abstract as the painting has to be quite accurate and true to life. I also don't want any very obvious artists like Van Gogh, which would be by using swirls in the paintwork and bringing in certain colours, but that is the sort of thing I am looking for. I have looked in the past at Franz Marc and if possible I would like an artist who uses quite true to life colours, but this is not necessary.

Please remember the topic of study is a horse! ie an artist with an interesting style of painting scenery would not be that appropriate, as I don't need to paint the background.

Thanks so much for answering!!

My favorite Artist is " Monet ".
He had a big thing about colors
changing with time.
I love his work,
and my Guy Actor Richard Armitage
played " Monet " in the Movie.

Pop art would be a good style to paint the horse in, so artists like andy Lichenstein would be good. Bright colours and quite interesting. Just search it on google to see some ideas.

Check out Rene Magritte a famous Belgian and another surrealist. S. Dali was my initial choice but I see it's been suggested.

Something like Marc Chagall's "I and the Village"? That had a rather unique horse in it.

try vincent vangogh's style
or better yet, jackson pollock.
of a horse, eh? that's quite a challenge...my lovely and talented wife has trouble with horses sometimes...they give me fits more than her. and we're not alone on that. just got to work with them a bit more than other subjects.
