Your house still has the Parvo virus in it. You have to totally disinfect your entire home and yard and even after that is done it is very wise not to bring another pup into your home or yard for at least year! Maybe more! Parvo is a very resilient virus that stays in the house and soil for many. many years! If you do get another dog it has to be an older pup who has already had all it Parvo vaccinations!
You bring another pup into your home now and it will die too!

again...sarah has this one covered, youll have to wash and bleach and bleach some more to get it out of your house, you can treat your yard to an extent with bleach but..its dirt, you can only do so much, some vets will tell you it can last alot longer then 6 months in the yard if its not a severely cold winter, but i personally dont know how long it can really last, i do know its a while though. as far as the ones who want to pop off about reputable breeders and shots...ive had 2 pups die of parvo, both were VERY up to date on their shots, the shots dont ALWAYS work. thats been a few years ago though and were all good now :)
for the record, i dont buy from breeders, too many dogs already walking around needing a home to be buying them and paying big money just because someone thinks they have the ability to crank out more because their dog is better, instead of spending 200 dollars right on up on the dog i prefer to spend the extra money on the dogs care and spoiling him. breeders arent the only place to get a dog.

You need to take your time with another puppy. Do a lot of research and make sure the source you get your puppy from is reputable. You don't want another repeat of a sick dog who dies again.
Sorry for your loss, it's a very sad thing to go through.

Sorry for your loss!
This may just be a myth, but I heard you should wait 5 years until the parvo outside is no longer able to infect another animle, but you should definetly check with a VET

I'm so sorry for your loss.
Parvo Virus known to survive on inanimate objects - such as clothing, food pans, and cage floors - for 5 months and longer in the right conditions. All parvoviruses are extremely stable and are resistant to adverse environmental influences such as low pH and high heat. Exposure to ultraviolet light and sodium hypochlorite (a 1:32 dilution of household bleach - ½ cup bleach to 1 gallon of water) can inactivate parvovirus. The bleach solution can be impaired by organic matter and needs to have adequate exposure time and proper concentrations to work effectively. The normal incubation period (time from exposure to the virus to the time when signs of disease appear) is from 7-14 days. Active excretion of the virus in the feces can begin the third day after exposure, often before clinical signs appear, and may last for one to two weeks after the onset of the disease.

You need to thoroughly cleanse your house with bleach and water before you consider bringing another dog home. Even with cleaning, parvo can live for up to six months in your home and yard. See link below for cleaning information.
ALWAYS have dogs vaccinated against parvo as soon as possible.

When my dog Ted died last year, i was so devastated i thought i was going to die.
Ted was a Little Rat terrier who was my only true friend, living on a small island in the Caribbean was heaven on earth, when Ted came into my life he was the soul survivor of a Shipwreck and was rescued by the US coast guard, they were not allowed to keep him and asked if i would. he was with me 11 years. i will miss him for the rest of my life, i had friends that tried to cheer me up by buying me another pup. but i thanked them and said if your child died would you accept another child just to replace him?
I you truly have a pup that died my heart go's out to the pup. i just wish children would learn that they are a responsibility just like a child. maybe your just too younger . my answer is you should ask your parents when it would be a good time and this time make it for a Friend not a toy

You should talk to your vet.
parvo stays in teh house and yard for many years.
If you get another make sure it is about 4 months old and has had all it's shots. Otherwise a good chance of another pup dying.

i would wait a while! also make sure to get this puppy vaccinated and it wouldnt die of parvo! its a very innexpensive shot! and all the germs that cause parvo will still be on your walls clothes, furniture, grass, in your house everywhere! you'll have to bleach everything and get the yard clean with a soultion too!
