There are many poisonous berries that aren't red as well.

YES! As are some green berries. If you do not know do not eat them. Just because Deer and Birds eat them does not mean they are safe for human consummation, these animals digest their food differently from us, so some toxins do not affect them yet they will kill us..

ever hear of nightshade? it's a vine with red berries on it and it's definitly poisonous... it's a relative of the tomato oddly enough.
